East Boston seafood place to get South American accent, but hours in question

The owner of a former Colombian restaurant in East Boston is buying Off the Boat Seafood on Porter Street.
At a Boston Licensing Board hearing today, Gilbert Preciado's lawyer, Jared Chrislip, said the new Pilones will retain seafood, but will add "more of the Colombian, South American and Latino cuisine." Preciado needs the board's permission to buy Off the Boat's liquor license.
Preciado formerly owned Bohemios on Bennington Street.
Chrislip acknowledged opposition from neighbors to the proposed 2 a.m. closing time. He said Preciado would agree to an 11 p.m. closing time, but asked the board to consider granting him permission to stay open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Representatives of the mayor's office and City Councilors Sal LaMattina and Steve Murphy said they would oppose anything later than 11 p.m. One resident who made the trek downtown for the 10 a.m. hearing said she also supported 11 p.m., but would be willing to consider the midnight request after getting more details from Preciado.
The board votes tomorrow on whether to allow the license transfer and, if so, what closing time to set for the restaurant.

I live close by this area,
I live close by this area, and I certainly do not want a 2am closing time , this is a residential area, do not want to hear loud noises coming from people who will be walking out of that bar 2 in the morning. This is not Allston or Boylston street in Boston where there are mostly students, this is Porter St Eastie where you still have familys with children living nearby.It will be a major disruption to the community..

D'amilios faces the tunnel
D'amilios faces the tunnel entrance, there's cars there making noises 24/7 Also I would hardly call Porter st residential area. There's houses a little bit around the corner, but the area directly next to the restaraunt could atually benefit from some activity later at night.
I can't wait for the old East Boston NIMBY's to finally die off/get pushed out to the burbs and get replaced with more modern thinking folk
Colombian food
First off, huge fan of D'Amelio's. People who aren't scared of walking from Maverick (and if you are, you're a crazy person), and haven't made it there before, do yourself a favor and go there before they move to Revere. Incredible joint.
That said, if the new joint ends up being Colombian food, that's a real net negative. There are some cool Colombian-owned bars in the area (the incredible gem that is Cafe Gigu, the bar in the former Trainor's Cafe spot in Maverick, and Taverna Medallo), but Colombian food is the weakest link of Latin American cuisine. It would be absolutely incredible if they went Peruvian seafood, but that's asking quite a bit.
