That poor put-upon Milton lad
You know, the dude whose lawyer father is suing the Milton schools for discrimination and wants boys' grades raised retroactively because boys just can't sit still in class and stuff (hmm, wonder what the classes at dad's law school were like?).
Debutante in Yankeeland: I can't believe the gall of this kid:
... The kid's lawyer-daddy says that the system screws over these poor, poor widdle boy. Daddy says, "teachers must change their attitudes toward boys and look past boys' poor work habits or rule-breaking to find ways to encourage them academically." Or MAYBE you should have, I dunno, GOOD work habits. Or behave like a mature person. Just a suggestion. ...
Dan on Puritan City says cry me a river, kid:
... Now, I know what you're thinking: big-shot attorney daddy is displeased that his strapping soccer- and basketball-playing star-child only has a 2.88 GPA and is only in one Advanced Placement class and thinks women are to blame. At least, that's what I'm thinking. Oh yeah, and teachers should "look past boys' poor work habits or rule-breaking." The 50s were awesome, weren't they? ...
Steve on OnePotMeal: [P]erhaps the reason he's fallen behind in school is that he's been taught at home that he isn't responsible for the consequences of his (in)actions?
Meredith O'Brien on Boston Mommy doesn't know what to think, but adds:
If I think that either of my boys is getting an educational short shrift because of their masculinity, the schools will be hearing from their mama.

I know someone...
who lives in Milton, but his parents rent an apartment in Brookline so he can attend school there because it is to rascist in Milton. He is often making comments about the rasism in Milton, but never has talked about favoring girls being the problem. One thing that he often adds is that boys in Milton are very imature and distruptive, cleary more than other towns.
I bet I can come up with one too!
Hmm.. Well I think I should get my grades changed retroactively too because.... I'm only 5'2" and my teachers consistently wrote on the blackboard at height which favored my taller classmates... Yeah and all the books were on high shelves too. It's discrimination I tell you!
get over it

Class of 2007 Most Hated
This is going to win him a ton of friends, when they have to cancel music, art and sports to pay for the lawyers to defend themselves. I mean seriously, why start with a federal case? Did they go to the Principal? The Superintendent? Did they do a blind test where his work and the work of a girl were both submitted without names to see how they were graded?
And I'm guessing that by admitting his kid has poor work habits is not going to work in his favor. This whole thing makes me ill.

I'm willing to bet
that this boy is one of those holdouts against the current practice of diagnosing boys with ADHD and putting them on ritalin to deal with their "poor work habits."
