Alleged gunmen arrested in Hyde Park after foot chase through woods along Neponset River

Boston Police report arresting two men on gun charges after they allegedly bolted from a traffic stop on Fairmount Avenue near the Fairmount Line bridge.

Police say that around 5 p.m., detectives spotted a guy they knew driving a car he shouldn't have, since his license was revoked. They pulled the car over:

When the vehicle came to a stop on Fairmount Avenue, the rear seat passenger, Molija Burey, 23, of Boston, exited the vehicle and started walking towards the officers cruiser while yelling at them and gesturing aggressively with his hands. As this was happening, the driver (Pauliasky Jean Francois) and the front seat passenger, later identified as Irvin Rodriguez, 22, of Hyde Park, suddenly jumped out of the car, running down Fairmount Avenue towards Logan Square. The two suspects continued onto Davison Street then split up, with the passenger (Rodriguez) cutting left through several back yards towards River Street and the driver (Francois) turning right and disappearing into the driveway of a house on Davison Street.

As officers continued to search for Francois - bringing in tracking dogs and getting the T to halt service on the Fairmount Line - detectives investigated the car and:

[L]ocated a Colt 1911 .45 caliber handgun on the front passenger side floor hidden beneath a Dunkin’ Donuts bag. The safety was off, the hammer was down and the magazine had six live rounds in it.

Francois was found not long after on Fairmount Court.

Francois, 28, and Rodriguez, 22, were charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. Francois was also charged with operating after revocation and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, police say, adding they have yet to bring charges against Burey. It is not the first arrest for Francois and Rodriguez.
