Citizen complaint of the day: You know those BMW drivers

A concerned citizen complains about a 128i parked too far from the curb on Gates Street in South Boston:

This BMW is parked like you would think a person driving a BMW would park.

Or is the point that some Boston citizens complain about the smallest things?

Sounds more like a friendly, there goes your tail light, kiddo. Probably parks at a meter in a snowstorm too.

This lady does this ALL the time.

Just more evidence that BMW drivers are asshats.

After test-driving several BMWs I realized that the only way to drive them is like an asshat. They're just built that way, acceleration and steering have a hairline window between "Prius" and "asshat".

If by "smallest things" you mean a large piece of heavy machinery being parked irresponsibly and getting in everyone's way.

Unlike those lawn chairs, traffic cones and toilets parked so responsibly in empty South Boston spaces that never get in anyone's way.

Solution: stop giving away enormous amounts of road space for idiots to park these things.

Seriously? Have you even been to Boston? Complaining about someone parking too far from the curb is like complaining about someone talking too loudly on a street in NYC.

Better than Prius drivers, hands down.

This looks like half the cars in mission hill driven by Connecticut suburbanite kids who never had to street park. If there's something uniquely BMW about this, I'm missing it.

A BMW 128i is barely a BMW.

Give me a BMW M6 any day.

I was firmly in the anti-BMW camp for years. Until I had the chance recently to drive a 535 with the M package for a week and then an I8 for a week.

The only problem with BMW's is the majority of the morons who can afford them have no idea how to drive them. They really are amazing machines.

I've read on the internets that 3/4 of the BMWs are leased. So, most of the morons just care to be able to afford a monthly payment.

E30 M3 was the last good looking bimmer before bangle butt became a thing.

Yeah Yeah E36 but E30 still the best.

Does anyone know how often Citizens Connect is checked? I see a lot of complaints about cars parked in residential spots without stickers and in this case too far from the curb. Usually the resolution from CC is something like "clear at this time." Is it really worth complaining to this site? I would be pissed if I had to circle my block 30 times looking for a spot when some 'asshat' without a sticker takes a residential spot, but if I won't get an immediate response then I don't see why I would waste my time. Calling the police to ticket would probably have a faster response time.

How would you feel if you were a nonresident, and had to circle the block 30 times because there were plenty of empty spaces reserved for residents who weren't using them at the time?

in action.

Observed Boston Police cruiser, apprently responding to a call, driving down Boylston Street the wrong way in the opposite lane. No siren at all, not even the pathetic and totally ineffective 'blip blip'.

Registered a complaint with Citizen's Connect, giving time and location. As of today, 312 days later, the complaint is still marked as 'open'.

I would take that BMW over the typical white 1989 Grand Marquis with the blue vinyl top (aka Southie Sled) any day of the week.

Unrelated to that parking job:

Does anyone know why Knowlton, Mercer, Gates, Old Harbor, and G street are all one way going down the hill (away from telegraph)? Almost everywhere else in the city the streets alternate one way directions (Even Mercer, Gates, Old Harbor alternate on the other side of telegraph).

Too steep to drive up in the winter.

Decreases traffic from Old Colony into the neighborhood. I'm sure it was not a coincidence when they were built.

Wow, 6 one-ways the same way in a row! That ties with a few other places around Boston.

Congratuations! With your snarky comment, you just handed the Citizen's Connect people an excuse to not handle your complaint.
