Fashion Police rescue Hyde Park man

BPD officer fixes man's tie

Boston Police report on an incident in Hyde Park today:

An officer assigned to District E-18 (Hyde Park) while on his regular tour of duty was approached by a gentleman who had a problem: He was on his way to church for services but didn't know how to properly tie his necktie. He approached the officer and asked for assistance - the officer didn't hesitate to help him out.

You can do the simple nice things for someone and there will always be that one or a few people to either have a smart comment or a negative statement!!!! Something so simple and nice as this is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

That was click bait, I was waiting for someone be arrested for bad fashion. Heaven knows some people in this town could use some fashion police!

But good story regardless.

Those townie dad jorts should have been cited as an aggravating circumstance in the State Street station bj incident.

I was ready to come out swinging in defense of this gentleman's jaunty chapeau, and am now chuffed that no such defense was required.

And maybe the guy's a recent widower or his wife is away, it's pretty common for married dudes to forget how their own neckties go.

Once I was outside the museum of science when a signal was out, making the crosswalk to the T station dicey at best, so my mom and I approached a nearby cop and asked for help getting across. His response - "I can do anything, I'm Superman!" - is still an inside joke and a quintessentially charming Boston anecdote for us.

When the BPD is good, they're very very good. And when they are bad they are horrid.

Guess it's a good thing I didn't link to this post about a youth football league at E-5.

Yes, remember Eric Garner. Also remember this is Boston, not Baltimore.

Why was there a bpdnews photographer ready to snap that picture?

Most cops these days have cell phones. I'm going to assume a fair number of them have more modern versions with cameras built in.

These days, they're required to the point that most departments issue them. Radio is good for getting messages to the officers in the field fast, phone is good for stuff that needs to be kept confidential or would be too involved of a conversation to let other, more important information flow.

And if you look closely, you can see the passenger door on the cruiser is open (in addition to the driver's door). So my guess would be the partner took the photo.
