A judge ordered Scott (l) and Steve Leader held without bail pending a Sept. 3 dangerousness hearing, the Suffolk County DA's office reports.
State Police report the brothers interrupted their journey home from last night's Sox game to attack a homeless man they found wrapped in a sleeping bag on Columbia Road next to the JFK/UMass station.
According to State Police, their investigation showed that after urinating on the 58-year-old man around 12:30 a.m.:
They punched him multiple times and struck him with a metal pole. According to one witness statement, the victim may have slept with the pole nearby for protection.
The man was taken to Boston Medical Center for treatment.
State Police say Scott Leader, 38, and Steve Leader, 30, both of 375 Old Colony Ave., continued their pissing ways after their arrests:
Both became highly aggressive and combative while being booked at the South Boston Barracks - exposing themselves and urinating in the cell, challenging troopers to come into the cells to fight, banging on the cell door, and making threatening and anti-immigration statements. Scott Leader made a statement referring to the victim as an “illegal immigrant” and stated the reason he and his brother were arrested is that they were white and the victim was a minority (the victim, who is not being identified, is Hispanic). At one point Steve Leader punched and kicked the plexiglass on the cell door for 30 minutes continuously.
The pair were arraigned today in Dorchester Municipal Court on charges of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery for the purpose of intimidation because of national origin, open and gross lewdness, indecent exposure, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and threatening to commit a crime, the DA's office reports. Steve Leader was arraigned on an additional count of malicious destruction of property.
At a Sept. 3 dangerousness hearing, a judge will decide whether to keep them behind bars until at least the conclusion of their trial.

I would say most people who hate, regardless of who they hate (n this case these two contempt for the homeless guy), and regardless of what race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status the irrational hater is, most likely where heavily influenced by the home environment they were raised in, most likely mom (and dad, if they have a dad) was a irrational hater.

State Police charged him with both assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (pole) AND assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (bodily fluids). You're quibbling over one of the charges against two people who allegedly stomped on some homeless guy who was asleep at the time they began their attack. Do you feel better somehow complaining about what you consider a trivial charge? Why don't you file a complaint with Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley, whose office considered the beating so horrible his attorneys are moving to have these guys locked up until the end of their trial as a danger to society.

I'll see if I can find the case but it was a brutal one where a boyfriend beat up his girlfriend and tied her up for almost a day. When the woman peed on the floor, the boyfriend wiped the urine up with a rag and stuck the rag in the woman's mouth and duck taped it again. He faced some more serious charges (kidnapping and assault with intent to murder), but the judge ruled that the urine was also a dangerous weapon when used in this instance.
edit: this may have also been a case where duct tape was ruled to be a dangerous weapons as well.
