I had that same hankering for sushi on Friday night, and while awaiting my Godzilla maki, was dismayed to hear a woman behind me ask for the manager and complain she and her friend had already waited AN HOUR AND A HALF for their food.
I only waited an hour for mine. And luckily I had good company.
The last time I went to Village Seafood, I also waited an hour and a half to be served.
Did I mention that was the last time I went there? An hour and a half is a heck of a long time to wait for someone to slice raw fish. I'll not be back. There are plenty of good restaurants in the square that won't hang you out to dry until your food comes.
I wouldn't be too upset if they went out of business, and a restaurant with competent management opened up there.
At least that is what they told me the last time I went to JP Seafood...which could account for the new website.
Honestly, I have never had great luck with Village Sushi. The food was fine, but the portions and service were never quite as good as their former sister restaurant.
I hope they get their act together...I don't want to see yet another vacant storefront in the square.

It's a shame...

Hour and a half

Slow Food
Sounds like they are taking the "slow food movement" a bit too seriously.
Or maybe they missed the "movement" part ...
Hmm... that's not good
Well, I was sort of hoping it was just a fluke for us, but I see it's becoming a bad habit. I wonder how JP Seafood is doing -- it's the same owners.
Misono on the VFW in "West Roxbury, South Brookline, Chestnut Hill" is pretty good too. I just prefer the special maki rolls at Village.
This is so annoying...
Different owners now

Sad to hear this
We've always had good experiences there (in the past).
Is Tammy related to Erin
Is Tammy related to Erin Esurance?
Nope
Never heard of her... why do you ask?
I don't see the resemblance myself
For one thing, you have brown hair, while she has pink hair. But then, I've never been very good at faces myself:
