Somebody melt a Smart Car in Cambridge?

M.L. reports seeing a weird, teensy-tiny little purple car on Mass. Ave. in Cambridge today, headed towards MIT (of course). Corinne replies with the above photo. Anybody know more about it?

Hey, at least one person bought the car that Homer Simpson designed.

The Homer.

Looks like a Sparrow. Little electric they made 15 years ago.

Vinny Tesla points us to the Sparrow page.

Was out in SF back in early '00s and saw the dealership and sooo wanted to buy one. They were in pre-production, I guess. From the Sparrow page, looks as though it was just as well I didn't! (Maybe the one in Cambridge is the only one that made it out?)

It appears that Myers Motors, in Ohio, acquired the rights and started making more of them in 2005, this time called the Myers Motors NmG:

But it doesn't appear on Myers Motors current website:

More like a SMAHT car, am I right?!

Looks like a Fusion Flea to me

An updated version of a Soviet invalidka.

to be the exact car I saw on Monday morning on Somerville Ave. I swear it was a different color, but that driver looks to be of about the same build. This was further east past Beacon St. near Conway Park.

The guy did kind of have a smug or wry smile as he passed me, looking in my direction. Certainly wouldn't be my first choice for a car....

It looks like a marital aid

...what are you married to...?

Get a custom paint job, and it'd look like you were filming an ad for a cold med with nasal decongestant:

[announcer voice]"Dosed with a bad cold? Does your nose feel like you're trying to push a small car around all day? Try new FLU-Hub!!![/announcer voice]

Thinking about it some more, it struck me -

that would be the perfect car for a mixed live-action/animation version of Darkwing Duck!
