David Ortiz gets all Babe Ruth with home run

Ortiz didn't just hit the game-winning home run against the Yankees yesterday. WBZ reports he hit the home run after promising a sick little kid he'd do so - just like Babe Ruth once did.

yesterday, as i was reflecting on the fact that david ortiz might have hit his final game winning home run against the yankees, i realized that i'm genuinely thankful to have been here to witness the entirety of his career(in boston)

i look forward to getting teary eyed telling people that don't care all about how i watched the great david ortiz knock home runs out of the park from the time he was in his 20s all the way to age 40, winning 3 world series along the way

i dont know how you can accurately describe the hope that he gives you as a fan when he steps up to the plate- but he makes you feel like anything is possible, and that he can win a game, or spark some offense to change the momentum of a series all on his own. i think thats what i'll remember most. yeah, 2004 was amazing and the rest of it was great, but just the feeling you get when you're down by two and papi steps up is what i'll remember most from his time here, i think.

edit: i guess i could have just posted this instead.

but the Sox need PEDs to break the curse. Patsies needed sypgate and deflategate to win. the Celtics needed to go out get other teams all-stars (KG from minn and ray allen from seattle) to win their only title in the last 25+ years.

City of champions? more like city of cheaters!

..not to mention the quality of life drops in my city every time one of these teams has a home game.

Go Broncos!

..which is a good batting average, but your'e 1 out of 3 in your post.

Ortiz's name was one of many on 'a list' but was never proven to have taken PEDs and hence was never punished, unlike your boy Alex Rodriguez who sat out what, an entire season for juicing up?.

The Celtics needed stars from other teams. DUH that's called personnel TRADES and every sport does it, ya dummy. And the NBA operates under a salary cap, so each team has the same payroll and can trade for the other teams' stars if they want to. Assembling a championship roster takes personnel management skills and contract negotiations that once gain every NBA team is able to do with the same $ resources.

You're spot on re Brady though. ;) like I said, one out of three.
