Dorchester man charged with shooting up Cambridge parking lot
By adamg on Fri, 05/27/2016 - 10:51am
Dwan Knight, 24, of Dorchester, was arraigned yesterday on charges related to the gunfire that erupted early on May 2 in a parking lot on Bishop Allen Drive in Central Square.
Knight had bail set at $15,000 on charges of carrying a firearm without a license - second offense - Cambridge Police and the Middlesex County District Attorney's office report, adding he was then ordered held for an open probation warrant.
Police found two guns and 13 shell casings when they arrived at the scene.

Shocked
2nd offense only 15K for bail ?
13 shells ?
WTF ?
Seriously
Can someone please explain the logic for how someone with this record is free, not to mention many of the other examples we have seen of people who clearly should be in jail and yet are walking around shooting guns throughout the city instead. Daft!
Thanks to the police for their good work in tracking this guy down, I hope he IS the guy and if so the justice system better do something more than slap him on the wrist and cross fingers he doesn't do worse.
Sorry if I didn't make it clear enough, but ...
He's not free, he's locked up. In addition to the bail (the purpose of which is to ensure somebody shows up in court, not to punish him for something he has yet to be convicted of), he was ordered held, i.e., kept in jail, on an earlier warrant.
Thanks
Thanks for clarifying, Adam.
Oh boy, I bet you thought the
Oh boy, I bet you thought the bail for that cop killer was appropriate too.
You know, the cop who was buried today after being shot and killed by a career criminal.
Clearly the system is broken.
If you don't like how the legal system works ...
Get yourself elected and do something about it.
What happened in Auburn is horrible and it highlights some of the possible issues related to the bail and probation systems that may have absolutely nothing to do with this guy in Cambridge (who, as noted, IS behind bars now).
Thank You Adam!
Thank You Adam!
I am starting to think people just come on here because they have too much free time on their hands. It was made very clear that this guy is behind bars for something he may or may not have been found guilty for yet. Sometimes it's better to read and re-read it again if you don't completely understand.
