Whee: Whirligig landing pad could be in place by September

The Boston Business Journal reports a state official says building a temporary helipad in Boston by September is "doable," says that that would be like a bus stop, while the permanent location would be more like a bus station. No word on whether they'll take CharlieCards - or, for that matter, where they want to put it. We need to get this thing in place quickly because we'd hate to disappoint GE, which is, of course, moving here in part because we're a world-class city and world-class cities have helipads.

If only we can block this
If only we can block this helipad, then there will be no more shootings on the streets of Boston, and all the children in the BPS will get into great colleges. And you'll be able to get great Thai food in Roslindale. And then those great, clean public rest rooms will magically appear all over downtown. If only we can stop these one percenters from getting their helipad. Seriously.
So this is what Baker meant when he said "Lets be great MA"
Logan has a helipad, if that's not enough for GE then they can pay for one. Baker killed late night T for lack of money, and has stalled the green line for the same. Why is there money to save rich people the trouble of the long ride from downtown to logan's helipad? That money would be better spent improving the terrible public transportation in the seaport.

It is a slab of concrete with bus stop shelters and was part of getting a decent sized company into the city. What reasonable cause is there to be up in arms about this?
A company getting a free building
A company getting tax breaks.
A company bringing workers from another location, not hiring here.
A company locating in an area where transit is strained and inadequate.
That's like saying "who cares if your freeloading brother demands a new expensive TV - he brought his girlfriend along to occupy a bedroom in the house!"
helipad is a symbol
State and city are out almost a quarter billion of taxpayer funds to bring GE here, some of it's tax abatement. The helipad is symbolic of the Baker administration double standard for public transportation infrastructure and emblematic of Walsh's priorities. The public will pay for the helipad. No one in my neighborhood owns a helicopter. We will never use it.
