Gotta love the snippy comments of the almost got into Oberlin crowd in the old neighborhood as they opine on life there.
Thanks for increasing the cash flow on the inheritance Brett but please don't insult the intelligence of the neighborhood based on one sign.

So was half of Weymouth and Marshfield.
Doesn't mean that the place has never changed.

I'm not a resident but it is true that characterizing neighborhoods that way isn't really accurate. It's just perfectly fine area. Not everything needs to be turned into something snarky. It's just a notice.

Taking the piss out of someone is an ancient tradition in many cultures that transcends neighborhood identity.
The comment did none of that.

It just tried to vaguely to characterize something and could be used just about anywhere.

Seriously, why is this a "Dorchester thing." I've lived here for years and never seen a sign like this.

This is a pretty old school Boston sign but nothing specifically Dot about it.
True Dot sign from back in the day would be more like:
Give my back my Phillips screwdrivah and I'll buy you beau coup Pearl Hahbahs latah.
And if I catch you with it ya gonna get a beatin.
How's ya sistah?
I am trying to find mine also.
