Person shot in Mattapan

Around 9:20 p.m. on Cedar Street near Sanford. Because of the severity of the person's injuries, the homicide unit was called in.

Two small blocks from where I lived for the first 37 years of my life. Not that I wish anyone else sorrow, but I still know some folks who live right next to that spot and I hope it isn't any one of them.

Very sad. I thought it was still a neighborhood you could be relatively safe in.

I just moved to this neighborhood recently, couple streets over from this incident. It is pretty safe, the people are great, and I have no fear or problems walking around there. I can guarantee all the violence in the area is gang related, and if you aren't in a gang, or messing with one, there isn't a problem. Things there are only going to get better, and the trolley is safe....for now! Honestly the turkeys are more menacing of late.
