Convicted rapist charged with South End attacks, rape

Ronald Brown

Ronald Brown, 52, was held without bail today on charges he entered a South End apartment early Tuesday, tied up two women and raped one of them.

Brown's fitness for bail will be evaluated at a dangerousness hearing on Friday, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Brown, who also goes by Ronday Villy and Rodney Ville, was convicted on two counts of aggravated rape in 1986, according to the state Sexual Offenders Registry Board.

His most recently registered address was the Pine Street Inn.

The DA's office provided this account:

According to prosecutors, an assailant gained access to a Clarendon Street apartment at approximately 3:45 a.m. yesterday. He bound, threatened, and assaulted both of them. The man left with the victims’ cell phones and other electronics and belongings after forcing the victims to provide passcodes for each device.

Boston Police detectives were provided a description of the attacker, who wore distinctive camouflage pants. They additionally recovered a medication bottle bearing Brown’s name at the scene.

Boston Police detectives assigned to the Sexual Assault Unit spoke with staff at the Pine Street Inn who reported seeing Brown in the hours after the assault wearing the same distinctive clothing as described by the victim.

When approached at the shelter by arresting officers, Brown was carrying a purple backpack. Officers searched the backpack and discovered several items inside, including cell phones, a camera containing the victims’ photos, and papers with the victims’ device logon information, prosecutors said.

Innocent, etc.

And why is he allowed to walk our streets? Two counts in 86, and two additional counts this week. Let's be sure to mark our calendars for when the court/parole board plans to let this predator out next. Disgrace.

We had a lot of judges who didn't consider violence against women to be any big deal.

King ... Heffernan ... others who would verbally abuse victims in court.

appointed mostly by a certain 'progressive' governor, who didn't care much about the inner city violent, period; including against men, not just women. These 'progressive' judges and politicians believed, and still believe, in cutting criminals, nonviolent and violent, a lot of slack.

in such simplistic terms? Are you a grown up over the age of 13? Complex issues cann be reduced to 'progressive' this or that? You should get out more.

Who's going to be his judge now? Let's watch this closely.

According to news reports he told the victim that "he hates Chinese people" and then proceeded to rape her. Why isn't he being charged with a hate crime?

So let's hold off on the righteous wrath for a bit.

if he did rape a person and he did say that, i think feelings of scorn and derision are appropriate tbh.

i mean, its not like he hasnt shown himself to be capable of such deeds in the past

I feel so awful for these women who were terrorized last night.

I have to say, I surprised people pay so much to live in the South End. If you go on the sex offender registry, hundreds of registered SDPs have one of the homeless shelters along Harrison/Albany as their address.
