I like free stuff too, but never understand people who earn the equivalent of $25/hr, $50/hr, and more spending 20-30 min in line for a $9 lunch (or a $3 slice of pizza, or $4 ice-cream).
Granted, it's a beautiful day outside, so there's that.
There's a name for this

There's a name for this phenomenon, it's called "penny-wise, pound-foolish"

Why the hell would you burn an hour or more waiting in line for... a free salad? Something that probably costs $10 or less on any other given day?
I never understand this phenomenon, whether it's free ice cream from Ben & Jerry's or free Slurpees from 7-11 or whatever.
It's a completely irrational decision, and I just don't understand it.

I've never had to wait in line for more than a minute on Free Slurpee Day.

Likely salaried workers whose comings and goings aren't tracked too closely because they are on call all the darn time.
Or a good portion of the office went together as a field trip.
It's not that ridiculous when you think of it as an excuse to have a long break.

....you DO win friends with salad.
If the price is right.

How much does a salad cost anyway? Why would any adult wait on a line that long if they didn't have to?
Insanity.
I blame Trump.
