Jean Nagy attended an anti-Trump rally and march outside the State House this evening. Above, they're chanting "my body, my choice." Below, they're chanting something a bit harsher:

The cops arrived before the protesters:

There was also a protest against the DAPL pipeline project in the Dakotas, which Tom Griffiths videoed:

We can't move back, we're

We can't move back, we're from here!! It's the first of the free jobs! I have one but I know people that are in desperate need! If you're so smart, can you tell me where they sign up?
One Question

Who are they protesting at or to? Protesting without somebody present to respond to the protest seems rather meaningless.
Seriously, is there an end game here?

Is there ever an end game in politics? Or life in general? I am sure they are younger than you are and will be inheriting whatever problems we inherited from previous generations that were ignored or mismanaged. I would love to have seen the comments of the general public throughout the founding of this country, I wonder how many said "Why bother..."
End Game
By Suldog

I won't go into the end game for life in general, as that seems to be a question each person has to address individually.
As for politics, the end game is usually to have your concerns acted upon. In order for that to happen, you have to direct them at somebody. That's why I asked the question: Who are they protesting to or at?

Petition the State House to ask Canada to take in New England as the 11th province.
I doubt Quebec would object much, given that half their population settled here a century ago.

I know it's hard to believe, but sometimes people get together to just express how much something means to them, and do not have a long term plan fully formed in mind.
There is no king of the protesters out there controlling everything with a grand vision from up top. True organizing takes place from the grassroots up, and often coalesces days or even weeks after mass demonstrations such as these.

I see this as a really pointless demonstration. Are they asking for something to happen, or just expressing outrage at something that already happened? The election is over, and cannot be undone. They should channel their energies directly into something they want, like supporting Planned Parenthood, or whatever other thing they believe is threatened. Yelling "Fuck Trump" accomplishes nothing, and persuades no one.

Then it's A-OK for you to stay home, sit behind your screen and carp about it.
Not sure I agree with that. In the short time since the election, I've been reaching out to people who have expressed frustration with the results with information on our local progressive activist group. Their frustration and their expression of it lets me know who to reach out to. I expect we'll have a lot of people at our meeting on Sunday. So you see, just because YOU don't get the point (as if there was a single, unified "point" to any protest), doesn't mean that nothing comes out of it. But you already knew that.
Consider it a warm-up or rehearsal

I didn't go, as I felt a need to be in a quieter, smaller, indoor place with people I knew and trusted. But I respect the people who put this together on very short notice. Any organizing that goes on now will become more useful 11 weeks from now when Trump is actually president.

I was marching against the war in Vietnam several times between 1968 and 1974. Our end game was to stop the war. I am not physically up to it any more, but I admire the anti Trump protesters and although there may not be a clear end game now, virtually everything about the Trump agenda is frightening, hateful, and irresponsible. I think the protests last night may have been more about general anger, but as we see what Trumps real priorities are the protests will become more focused on specific issues.

Not that you need my like, but I like your answer. I understand it, and I thank you for addressing the question.
I've taken part in protests in my day. I'm a bit younger than you, so a Vietnam protest isn't in my resume, but I was on the Common back when the first Gulf War was underway and there were other protests, for/against various things, both before and since. But what you stated is what I was getting at - it's mostly unfocused. Shouting "Fuck Trump" accomplishes NOTHING except the venting itself. Maybe that's important, but it's also damn scary to those of us who don't necessarily agree with Trump but do value peace.
Once there are protests about specific issues, I may have some admiration for the protests. At the moment, I don't see any good coming from it and the possibility exists for grievous wrong.

I like Patton Oswalt's take on it:
"Guys, the #TrumpProtests aren't "riots." They're to assure a nervous planet Earth that we'll go against him if he tries something crazy."

Say goodbye to Government

Say goodbye to Government funding city of Boston , next 4 years will mean cuts, less money for road repair, tree replacements, sidewalk repairs, social services, new emergency equipment for Boston Fire and EMS and BPD , remember when Reagan was in office between 1980 -1986 what Boston was like , remember proposition 2 1/2 , those days may return under the Trump Administration.
I look forward to voting for Justin Trudeau

Most intergovernmental fund transfers to Boston come from the Commonwealth, so not quite. For example, Prop 2 1/2 was a state initiative, so Reagan had nothing to do with that.
Nice try, though.

One thing that Trump has been hammering at that no one reported is that he wants to the feds to ramp up infrastructure spending, so GLX might have a better chance now.
(And for the same of the Clinton supporters, yes, Hillary also had developing and fixing infrastructure as one of her points that no one talked about. It would have been nice if the election revolved around actual issues of governing, but whatever.)
