Sorry to hear Mayor Trashbag has slipped back into his coma.
PENCE SAID HE DIDN'T MIND

Pence said he didn't mind the cast speaking to him at the end, so why should anyone else? He also said "This is what freedom sounds like".
Theater has never been meant to be a "safe space". Back to the ancient Greeks, theater has been used to address the powerful, tweak the status quo, and try to get people to think.

What's more, Colleges and Universities once upon a time were a similar venue. Anybody remember those days?
Quite frankly I'm not worried

Quite frankly I'm not worried about whether or not Mike Pence minds if people speak out against bigotry. I will speak out regardless!
Turns out Hamilton cast talks the talk

But when it comes to voting, doesn't really walk the walk:

Of course, quietly following through on your convictions in the privacy of a voting booth doesn't get you anywhere near the 'pub as bullyragging someone publicly.
So what?

One need not stand up for justice everywhere to be permitted to stand up for justice anywhere.
(and this is from someone who hasn't missed a general, primary, presidential primary, special, or local (in springtime!) election in over a decade)
Don't vote?

Mayor

I give credit to Mayor Walsh for taking a stance on this. If I was one of the other patrons in the theater, i'd be upset, you pay all that money to see a play, not a political speech.

Marty gave a bad speach last week

He was at a building opening in Roxbury in a room filled with white adults and gave a speech about how the new business was going to lift the neighborhood kids up out of poverty - there was maybe one person from the neighborhood at the speech out of about a hundred. Seemed like he had no understanding of the demographics at the event and whoever wrote the speech didn't either!

The mayor is a powerful voice for special interests that pay him to advance their agendas. Absent a scripted or pre-prepared stance about something, his remarks often seem to be not well thought through.
Seems like two things are

Seems like two things are conflated here, if the media reports are right (I wasn't there.) Cast reading respectful message, OK. Audience member being booed as he walks in (doubtful that's part of the show), not really OK. Not classy, rather, rude or impolite at best.
As for whatever our mayor is trying to say, I'be given up. Excuse me, my pearls need clutching.

The booing of Pence came from the audience, not the stage.
We're not to that point of dictatorship yet where the boss's right-hand man gets to silence every room he walks into.
Considering what a pain the ass Trump is being with his malingering on Fifth Avenue, there's enough motive to boo the presence of his entourage on traffic grounds alone.

You know what's a slippery slope Mayor Walsh? The slide into Fascism that America is going down right now.
Would Mayor Walsh prefer this musical?

I bet Mike Pence and Donald Trump would!

What I find alarming

What I find alarming is the statement from Pence that others find reassuring: "This is what freedom sounds like". Yes it is, and you don't like it, do you? So...
