You Fail To See The Difference Between Supporter And Associate
Anyone can be a supporter, but that doesn't mean the person they're supporting shares any of their views on anything. Acquaintances or even friends are not the same as associates.
By comparison, an associate is someone a person chooses to interact and/or work with to achieve common goals. Such a choice is made because of shared views and ideas about the things the associates will be working to advance.
The Reverend Wright was an acquaintance or perhaps even a friend of President Obama, but that doesn't mean the two men had any shared opinions about running the nation.
You and I disagree on many topics, but I'm still willing to be friends. If you came to my house for dinner, it wouldn't automatically mean that we agreed on anything (except perhaps, the pleasure of sharing a meal). Such a friendship wouldn't mean that you were associating yourself with any of my beliefs, nor I of yours.
The president-elect is actively choosing the people he wants to associate himself with because he does share their beliefs, and wants them to help influence the direction his administration will go. Supporters may become associates, but only if they're actively chosen.

Throughout our lives, we all have a chance to gain wisdom through experience. People with who we may share some interests, can turn out to be quite different than they appeared at first, once you get to know them a little better.
Mr. Obama may have remained friends with the reverend, but he clearly dis-associated himself from any of his extreme views. He most certainly was not one of his top advisors! The president-elect is doing exactly the opposite.

Obama said the right words when tape of the good reverend made it on CNN. I didn't really believe that in his heart he didn't remain unhealthily skeptical of what some would derisively call the institutions of white America, but that's my own opinion.

that the PC left seems to expend more energy on getting worked up about the words used than they do on making an effort on substance. Here you are, spending seconds and sucking down oxygen complaining about the words that he used, and the rest of the message and your (I assume) reasoned counter argument is completely ignored.
You and I can't have a civilized conversation about whether or not the man had a point about the left having a grudge against conservative women because you're hung up on the word 'dyke.'

Except that words matter, especially when they're used casually, the way Bannon does in this example, to demean a person based on their sexual preference, or to impugn them by associating them with that sexual preference (or as Bannon often does, for their religion, or skin color, or ethnicity.)
Political correctness admittedly can be ridiculous in certain academic settings, but reflexive antipathy to it has become the right's lazy, despicable excuse to use bigoted language in everyday life outside of fringe-left college settings.
Using the word "dyke" the way Bannon does isn't a brave stand against the excesses of a tiny minority of misguided college professors and sophomoric students to limit free speech. It's a mean-spirited, hateful insult meant to degrade a human being based on some inherent quality of their person.
Protected free speech? Certainly. Revealing of loathsome bigotry? Yeah, you just showed us the kind of small, narrow-minded person that you are.
Humans with a shred of empathy recognize the derisive use of "PC" for the ridiculous fig leaf that it is. If you think that "dyke" the way Bannon uses it is just a harmless word, you're not a bold defender the First Amendment: you're just a backward, ignorant asshole.

wherein I will tell you that more people than you may like to admit grew up at a time and place where 'gay' was a schoolyard insult that had next to nothing to do with sexual preference or normative statements about sexual preference and all to do with being a word that you threw around without a hint of political context.
I had maybe one high school friend with whom I've since lost tough who came out as gay in college. Guess what: he still used that kind of language when he was a kid. I don't think he gave it as much thought as you're giving it.

"Macedorable" Is Not An Insult — It's A Flag And A Challenge
I thought of the word in response to Jack's post, asking Adam for a way for readers to flag anonymous trolls, as an alternative to banning anonymous posts entirely.
Macedorable is essentially a sarcastic application of adorable, but applied specifically towards malevolent, anonymous (non-verified) trolls. Trolls aren't individuals who'll engage in discussing issues with you; they like to hit and run. They're hoping for people to get angry, but responding to them is always futile. The best response is to not feed the troll.
Indeed, I've used my "Adorable!" to end subthreads that were going nowhere — either at a point where nothing else can be said, or in response to something so outrageous that no words could sufficiently address it. In all instances, the person I was responding to never replied.
By flagging a post "Macedorable!" it alerts other readers that you suspect it's probably an anonymous troll, so they may choose not to feed it. If the poster is actually a real person expressing their own opinion— and not a malevolent paid troll spreading deplorable fake news for profit from Macedonia— they'll have every opportunity to answer the challenge with a reasoned reply.
Some people seem to think that "Adorable!" belongs to me, though I certainly didn't make up that word. I made up "macedorable" not just for myself, but for Universal Hub and its readers to possibly use as the flag Jack asked for, if they wish:

Having followed the media and politics my whole life, I believe Trump voters enjoyed voting against the media as much as we enjoyed voting for him. I tend to agree with him on ending the investigation into Hillary. While any cop on the beat could get an indictment against her, it's time to move forward.
I socialize with police from all agencies and have heard of no real Trump related attacks, other than the two project-dwellers on the T at JFK station last year who have probably never voted. By choosing JFK station, perhaps they were motivated by the Kennedy's racism, voting against Civil Rights and bugging the phone of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. That's as absurd as saying Trump had anything to do with it. I believe the latest fake attack was at Bowling Green University, the second faked there.
