Lawn on D looks to add beer and wine to its amenities

The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority's Lawn on D wants to add wine and beer - it finds out tomorrow if the Boston Licensing Board has any spare licenses lying around to make it happen.
Rebel Restaurants, which has an authority contract to sell food at the D Street park, told the board at a hearing this morning it would add beer and wine sales to its existing food tent on the south lawn. Currently, you can only buy adult beverages at the park during special or private events; an overall beer-and-wine license would let Rebel extend that to 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Thursday through Sunday.
The company, which pays the authority 15% of its sales as rent, says it would use a wristband system and tent patrols by security guards to ensure only people of the right age get their hands on the drinks.
The proposal was backed by Mayor Walsh and City Councilors Michelle Wu and Michael Flaherty.

to my knowledge beer at least has always been available. Perhaps this is getting lumped in with the bigger alcohol issue being looked at.

Sounds good to me, and we live ::directly:: across the street. Presumably, having a full-time liquor license means they'd want to have the "bar" open every day, or whenever they want, instead of just on the nights that there are events. Not much of a crowd on those days / nights, though.
Right now, only the Aloft hotel across the street has a liquor license but hardly anyone knows about it. With this, plus street-level restaurants eventually to be built, there will be more activity.
(I am not sure, but I think there's also a 10 pm curfew on music on the Lawn. Presumably, they'll want to push that to 11 pm, as well. I don't think anyone in my building - it's a rental - will care, but those at 437 D - condos - might. They were the ones upset over the IndyCar race.)

The W XYZ bar has very minimal food, and I think the only other food at that hotel is a vending kiosk.
If you wanted more food options, there were the food trucks and Jimmie John's, or loads of sit-down restaraunts in all $ categories, just a couple blocks walk north on D street towards the Trade Center.
"only the Aloft" - What about the Westin?
Right there inside the Lawn-adjoining Westin hotel, the Birch Bar, City Bar/Laugh Boston and O'Connor's Pub - all serve alcohol.

Is how much the Atlantic Beer Garden and Whiskey Priest is going to make since it's their group who runs the lawn.
