Looks like Mrs. Mallard and her brood are ready for Saturday's protest march from the Common down Comm. Ave. and back to the Common, as Jason shows us.

When a trumpophile pops by tomorrow, removes the walk hats and replaces them with little trucker hats that say "Make America Great Again", all good by you?
Yes

You mean all the dems showing their backside to the inauguration? Those cheeks?

I think Trump.is a putz and that's putting it mildly.
Didn't vote for him, don't have a lot of confidence in him.
But it's terrible form to politicize the ducklings. Sports hats, mothers day bonnets, uncle sam top hats - no prob. NO POLITICS including MAGA hats.
You're going to have to be more specific.

What if the hats were felted, instead of knit? Would that be OK?
What if we were to turn the whole area into a crèche for December?
What if we gave them all Che Guevara shirts, but put up a little sign indicating our ironic intent?
If the World Series pitted a New York team against a Canadian team, could we put them in pinstripes to show our national pride?
I mean, seeing as how you are the arbiter of what can and can't be done with the ducklings, I'd like for there to be a proper manifesto.
My Manifesto

If there's a twinkle of a question about the appropriateness - you shouldn't do it.
This isn't a twinkle - it's a flashpoint.

That's the stupidest shit I've heard in what promises to be a very stupid day indeed. SPORTS FUCK YEAH but politics no? No wonder our country is in the toilet.
Neutral

Listen - I know that 80% of people on this board are apoplectic over what's happening today. I'm not happy about it - I'm just resigned to the fact that it's happening and we have to figure out how to best deal with it.
As for the ducklings - neutral themes (at least locally) are fine - sports, mothers day, 4th of July - pretty non-controversial - unless you aren't from here and support another team.
Just like I opposed Sir Samwich or whatever on the Common - don't turn the Common into a mall. And don't politicize the ducklings. They are for fun and games and kids - not adult controversies. I'm not the stirrer - the stirrer is the moronic person/people that put the hats on the sculptures.

These are 3, 4 and 5 year olds. You aren't going to be having "our prez is a pâ‚©$$Â¥ grabber" conversations with them. I'm all for the walk and the message,, no prob. This is just inappropriate.
You clearly don't have kids

Any semi-lucid parent would know that this conversation will be much easier than the "monkeys are fucking at the zoo OMG" conversation.
All that needs to be said is "The duckies are wearing kitty hats today!". Toddlers dig that kind of "joke".
Are you the kind of person who thinks that gay marriage "forces" you to describe "gay" sex acts in lurid detail? No? Similar principle. Entry level parent skill set.
Oh, and my aunt told my brother and I that "the monkeys are playing tag". She doesn't even have kids.
Ummm that's what I said

would you be the kind of man that brags about being able to grope women the way Trump did?
In the company of my bros, I've said some things about women that I'm not proud of: boastful, objectifying, coarse. But "grabbing 'em by the pussy"? "You can do anything you want"? That's a different kind of crass, a combination of overweening silver-spoon self-entitlement and base misogyny. The Kennedy clan had similar date-rapey pricks among their numbers, but whatever your politics, you should find that casually-floated attitude revolting, piggish, barbaric, amoral.
You have daughters, sisters, nieces, mothers, girlfriends, wives. Explain to me how that attitude, even if it's an empty boast, is acceptable among your friends, never mind the leader of the free world. Tell me you don't understand why a couple of million American women and their supporters are marching on Saturday.
