Serious question. I have only heard of a ban on immigration from some specific countries which are known to be havens for terrorists. Not a ban on people of the Muslim faith.

As an exercise for the reader, look up the countries where the 9/11 attackers were from. Now look up the countries that are not included in the ban. And then, if you're feeling especially conspiratorial, look up the countries where Dear Leader has business interests.

If it was a Muslim ban then UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and should be on the list. I think your headline is inaccurate.

Even as President Trump takes steps to restrict visitors from some majority-Muslim countries, he and his family continue to do business in some of the others.

Ethics experts question whether that might indicate conflicts between Trump's business interests and his role as U.S. president.

The executive action, "Protecting The Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into The United States," targets seven nations: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. Trump has no business interests in those countries.

One other thing they have in common, as NPR's Greg Myre writes: "No Muslim extremist from any of these places has carried out a fatal attack in the U.S. in more than two decades."

The 19 terrorists in the Sept. 11 attacks were from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates, Myre points out. They are among the Muslim-majority countries not affected by Trump's immigration freeze, but where Trump does business.

Good point, those are all the countries where the 9/11 terrorists were from. It would be bigoted to exclude terrorist from those countries. Oh and don't forget the San Bernadino terrorist who are from Pakistan. Not on the list either.

According to Trump, persecuted Christians will be preferred over persecuted Muslims in regards to the refugee program. First off, Trump is lying or ignorant (always hard to tell the difference) regarding figures for Christians in the refugee program because thousands have been brought in. (CITE: http://nyti.ms/2kyuHf8 - According to the Pew Research Center, almost as many Christian refugees (37,521) were admitted as Muslim refugees (38,901) in the 2016 fiscal year.)

Religion, specifically practitioners of Islam would be placed behind practitioners of Christianity when (or if) the refugee program starts up again.

DAVID BRODY: “Persecuted Christians, we’ve talked about this, the refugees overseas. The refugee program, or the refugee changes you’re looking to make. As it relates to persecuted Christians, do you see them as kind of a priority here?”

PRESIDENT TRUMP: “Yes.”

DAVID BRODY: “You do?”

PRESIDENT TRUMP: “They’ve been horribly treated. Do you know if you were a Christian in Syria it was impossible, at least very tough to get into the United States? If you were a Muslim you could come in, but if you were a Christian, it was almost impossible and the reason that was so unfair, everybody was persecuted in all fairness, but they were chopping off the heads of everybody but more so the Christians. And I thought it was very, very unfair. So we are going to help them.”

Of the 10 countries with the largest Muslim population, only one appears on the banned list, Iran.

I don't agree at all with Pres. Trump's order; but words do mean things. Hyperbole doesn't add to the conversation.

It's not a ban on ALL Muslims, but it does discriminate based on religion:

"to prioritize refugee claims made by individuals on the basis of religious-based persecution, provided that the religion of the individual is a minority religion in the individual's country of nationality" (text from the excutive order)

In these Muslim-majority countries, non-Muslims will be given priority in refugee claims. In my opinion the intent is clear.

Considering that they provided pretty much all the immigrant terrorists responsible for the Marathon Bombing and 9/11.

If you ban immigrants from a country that is 96-100% Muslim, it's reasonable to conclude that you are banning Muslims.

Don't really agree with the bans, but it's pretty undeniable that many of these countries are havens for terrorists.
A lot of the main fight against ISIL is in Iraq and Syria. Lybia is the backup:
During testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee on September 22, Secretary of Defense Ash Carter explained that he and other U.S. officials had “expressed concern that if left untended, Libya could be the next ISIL [Islamic State] headquarters, as ISIL’s control over the city of Sirte was seen as their contingency plan for where they would go when they lost Raqqa and Mosul.”

unless you're using the word literally. The executive order applies even to lawful residents of the US who are from those countries. As we speak, people who live in Boston and raise families here and work at our hospitals and universities are being denied entrance back into the US when they've left for conferences or visits to relatives.
