Sure looks like a skeevy POS. I'm glad we now live in a world with technology that might help capture walking garbage like this.

I was the one who alerted Adam about this on twitter (after I saw it tweeted by TPD). The photo is a very nice big clear photo. Props to whoever whipped out their camera.. kudos!

If I can spell it out: "needs to be humanized" suggests that there are people who (even if they did horrible things several times as this winner is alleged to have) you do not consider human. That seems like more the problem than the solution.

first off he is innocent of that crime until he isn't. secondly, if you don't see whats wrong with taking the way a person 'looks' and then assigning them behavioral attributes then well, fuck me for wasting my time typing this.

Have you read this guy's rap sheet? He deserves nothing but psychiatric help and/or incarceration. Again, apologies for calling a spade a spade.

we can play revisionist history if you want, and i will pretend that you DIDNT make that comment BEFORE all the information about him came out. because you and i both know you straight up did.
and also no, he doesnt look skeevy. he looks like an average person. but yeah, double down again i can't wait to see what brilliant bovine excrement you lay on me next
Great call, scum!

You're right, I actually didn't know about his history before reading his rap sheet.
But here's what I did know: he was accused of making sexual comments toward a 9-year-old girl, which all media outlets were reporting, along with the MBTA Police – therefore it was likely to be more true than accusatory.
So I took that bit of information and coupled it with his skeevy appearance and potential-rapist eyeglasses – wihch was enough for me to deduce that he was less than deserving of any defense as an upstanding member of the Boston community.
Go ahead, continue defending this criminal, if you wish.
Innocent, etc., right?

and in fact condemned the alleged acts.
i wonder, if a woman was dressed a 'certain way' if you would so easily label her, too. a little ankle, or maybe if its friday night, some knee? i'm curious to know the parameters of your profiling. maybe i've been doing it wrong. when you drive by a mosque, what does that make you feel? how should i feel about it? tell me.

You've really latched onto the fact that I made an assumption based on appearance.
Let's get back to the fact that there is a 9-year-old girl out there who was traumatized by this piece of garbage, yeah?
Nobody is defending the guy

Nobody is defending the guy. We're calling out the bullshit comment that anyone can tell by looking at his picture without knowing anything else about him that he's bad news. Honestly, if the exact same picture had been shown with an article saying "Bystander saves 9 year old girl from pervert," the same folks would be saying, "Looks like a great, stand-up mensch."
In fact, he doesn't look either like a skeevy guy or like a great, stand-up mensch; he just looks like a random person on the subway.
I'm not seeing that

Xavier has a history of harassing and assaulting bike messengers. He is *not* a messenger. He likes to pretend to be, though, riding around his cheap fixed gear and Chrome sling bag, doing skids by our standby spot. I'd only heard nasty stories about him, until he charged at me one day out of the blue and tried jamming a handlebar into my rear wheel (which, thankfully, didn't catch). My confronting him got the attention of some nearly police officers, who did their thing but told me that they can't / won't / don't really want to do anything about it. After that, I hadn't heard about him starting anything with messengers, though he has been seen plenty riding around. I guess messengers are too tough for him, he's gotta take his whatever-the-eff out on nine year olds.
FYI Transit Police, accosting
By anon

FYI Transit Police, accosting is not worse than assaulting. It's not even in the same category. Accost means simply to initiate conversation. It seems to have become one of those words writers like throw out there erroneously when wanting a cheap intensifier, in a similar vein as using "execution" instead of simply "murder". Cop-talk has become too rife with this type of upside-down doublespeak (ie: use of "the gentleman" to refer to an accused criminal but something de-humanizing like "the male" or "the subject" to refer to a fully cooperative witness.) The use of the word accost here to describe an assault and battery leaves me wondering exactly what transpired. Who's writing this stuff for them, Michele McPhee ? Does anybody know exactly what happened ?
