Truck driver charged with OUI after crash that shut I-93 in Milton

Truck crash on I-93 in Milton

State Police report arresting a Lynn man on OUI charges after he flipped his tractor trailer on its side at the Squantum Street exit on I-93 southbound in Milton around 1:30 a.m.

An investigation by Trooper Christopher Johnson, determined that the operator, Pleitez, 43 of Lynn, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the attenuator located at the beginning of the off ramp to Exit 10. Pleitez was not injured in the crash. Trooper Johnson determined Pleitez was operating under the influence of liquor and was subsequently placed under arrest.

Pleitez is scheduled for arraignment in Quincy District Court today on charges of OUI, negligent operation and marked lanes violation, State Police say.

Innocent, etc.

Ha Ha Ha. That exit is hard enough to take in a car let alone being plastered up to your curds in an 18 wheeler.

He must have been out of his gouda to do that.

In a related note, Milton people who think they really live in Dover are very upset that people will think that someone from Lynn is allowed to drive through their town.

Could not have said it better myself

"out of his gouda"

Some autocarrots are particularly delightful.

I thought it was intentional. I even went back to re-read Adam's text to see if the truck was, in fact, carrying cheese.

That I didn't have that fact, but, yes, he was hauling cheese.

Ah, for whatever reason the original source is blocked at my work so I didn't catch the cheese references. Still works well as a autocorrect of gourd.

Maybe the driver was going to park and get some sleep his truck overnight in Milton to get ready and attend a few open houses in that town today

Operating Under the Influence of texting, marijuana, opioids, alcohol, blow job, GPS, the list could go on these days. We might have to re-write the law.

Or, for that matter, the media, where OUI is specifically shorthand for "operating under the influence of an intoxicating liquor" and where somebody charged with operating under the influence of something else has that something else spelled out.

Just sign me,

Cranky, etc.

OUI applies to not just liquor, but ANY intoxicating substance (except texting, which is still a slap on the wrist fine with NO surcharge). From MGL, Chapter 90, Section 24:

Whoever, upon any way or in any place to which the public has a right of access, or upon any way or in any place to which members of the public have access as invitees or licensees, operates a motor vehicle with a percentage, by weight, of alcohol in their blood of eight one-hundredths or greater, or while under the influence of intoxicating liquor, or of marijuana, narcotic drugs, depressants or stimulant substances, all as defined in section one of chapter ninety-four C, or the vapors of glue (emphasis added) shall be punished by a fine of not less than five hundred nor more than five thousand dollars or by imprisonment for not more than two and one-half years, or both such fine and imprisonment.

"Trooper Johnson determined PLEITEZ was operating under the influence of liquor and was subsequently placed under arrest."

He must have been on his way to replenishing the cheese that was emptied from shelves ahead of the storm earlier this week.
