Trump supporter runs for state Senate - as a Democrat

The Globe reports that Joe Shortsleeve (yes, that Joe Shortsleeve) is running for the state Senate seat that James Timilty (yes, of those Timiltys) is giving up. Yeah, he allows as how he voted for Trump in November, but says it's no biggie because he's a big fan of the gays and abortion rights and believes in climate change and, besides, he's now disappointed in Trump and, even better, he voted for Sanders in the primary.

Unfortunately for him, at least on that point, is that one of his opponents in the Sept. 19 primary for the Bristol and Norfolk district is Paul Feeney of Foxboro, who actually helped run the Sanders campaign in Massachusetts.

If you're for Sanders one day and for Trumpski the next, you're a dimwit.

Sanders is just Left-Wing Trump: I know the best way to do everything, I don't need to listen to/work with anyone else, I yell just to get attention.

They're both isolationists as well (or were during the campaign), though in different ways.

I'm confused. Alienate the Trump supporters by saying you are disappointed after a mere 100 days, then alienate the Hillary supporters by announcing that you voted against her twice last fall. So is Shortsleeve planning on winning with the Sanders crowd? Very strange, and the race has barely started. For a guy who should be media savvy, he appears the chameleon fool.

My Representative and Senator are proud liberals but cordial. When I rarely need something, it's done. I disagree with them on most issues but respect them because I know where they stand. I have no idea where Shortsleeve stands, much like Scott Brown, who won running against Obama's policies but then came back two years later saying how close he was to Obama and how often he voted for his policies. You have to wonder who advises these people.

He lost because he had his nose up Rove's trump.

He had a choice to represent MA - like Baker is - or represent the GOP Hatewagon Express.

He chose the latter, with a solid dose of anti-Native American slur chanting, and lost.

I respectfully disagree. Brown was specifically sent to Washington to oppose Obama, then boasted that he votes with Obama on many things and even loves playing basketball with him. In other words, a phony.

It's the same as Ivy-educated John Kerry's pidgin English, "can I get me a hunting license here?" or Hillary switching to an African-American speaking style when speaking to a black group. Republicans are no better with Mitt Romney running around with brand new blue jeans and workboots, as if he were coming from a construction job. All frauds and all lost.

Baker is easily beatable after alienating over a million Trump voters in the state but the Democrats are unable to nominate anybody but a loon, so he has a chance. Throw in the usual dreaming millionaires with no chance (Kazei, Gabrielli, Pagliuca) and Baker could slide back in.

Sen. Scott Brown started his re-election campaign in a state that is + 8 for Democrats trying to de-legitimize Elizabeth Warren with a racist appeal about her family heritage.

He explicitly and wrongly called into to question her qualifications for her job at Harvard (Charles Fried, Pres. Reagan's Solicitor General, who chaired the committee that hired Warren said she was not an affirmative action hire.)

They ran the same playbook throughout the campaign. It failed miserably
