UPDATE: A second man was also shot.
Around 6:10 p.m. a man was found shot to the back in a car on Washington Street near the firehouse - not long after police arrived on Westview Street between Stratton and Ames to investigate gunfire.
Police eventually found two other cars with gunfire damage - one at Westview and Stratton and one with its rear window shot out, at Blue Hill Avenue and Creston, about a mile and a half away.

All City Truce

I need help to try and put together an All City Truce. This violence is, always has been and will continue to be senseless! So what do we do as concerned citizens? Do we just continue to shake our heads? I don't know how, but we need to have more than a conversation. Can we do bill boards? Public service announcements? I'm ready. who's in?
A noble effort...

Great post, it would be awesome if a task force could be formed that might include: police (YVSF) parents, teens, city hall, ministers, pols, existing neighborhood groups, AND another important group ( financial backers and high priced advertising execs). If there is some sort of visual campaign to be developed, it will need to be done well (with real feeling), and be seen everywhere (in the neighborhoods, on mbta, in BPS). Unless it is multi-pronged it will fail. And it needs to be real, with a tries message - not just buzzwords with stock photography.
With everyone working together, a positive plan could be developed - but it would need private dollars, something that is feasible if the right groups are involved.
I would be willing to pitch in

The shooting didn't happen in the park. It happened in the housing development - which is still called Franklin Field.
