Norumbega
I'd wager this has to do with Vikings.
Norumbega (rational version): http://andywoodruff.com/blog/norumbega-new-englands-lost-city-of-riches-and-vikings/
Norumbega (Time Cube version): http://myronpaine.blogspot.com/2013/12/norumbega-library-blog.html (also notable is the more general Viking woo at http://myronpaine.blogspot.com/)
Wow, I JUST learned about this...
Saw a Norumbega sticker by the train station today and checked out the site.... and was relieved that it's funny, not crazy: http://www.scandinavianaggression.com/centrum/public-service-announcemen...
And the guy wrote a column for McSweeney's titled "Norse History for Bostonians" as well: https://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/lesson-1-a-short-history-of-the-nors...
The tower
The Norumbega Tower is still there, on Norumbega Rd, next to Rte 128 on the east side, north of where Norumbega Park was. You used to be able to see it from the highway, but the trees grew and now block the view. Google Maps has it.
