There were several fire trucks idling near my building (in the 2000s on Comm Ave) and I asked one of the firefighters what happened, he said there was a manhole fire a few blocks up. I have since decamped to get dinner so I don't know if they're all still there, a couple of them were leaving shortly after I talked to the one guy.

At the risk of jinxing myself, the outage area seems pretty irregular around the edges. I'm two blocks away from Whole Foods in the direction of Brighton Center and I still have power. Knock on wood!

I live on the Cambridge-Somerville line near Davis Square, and I've seen outages here that were only on the Somerville side or only on the Cambridge side.
