Curtains for Theater District bar?

Boston Restaurant Talk reports the Intermission Tavern on Tremont Street is up for sale - and that it "can be delivered vacant, allowing investors the opportunity to redevelop the Property on an immediate basis."

Decent food and usually a quiet place to grab a drink. Staff and clientele had a bit of personality. Quiet on non-show nights. And have you ever stepped back and looked at the building? It's a relic.

Noooooooooooos! Needing a drinki-poo near closing time in the Theatre Dist with some out-of-town friends I remembered this place as being a diamond in the rough from my time as a night student years ago. We ducked in there knowing that the still thirsty club-goers, milling about like "walkers", would be repelled by the bright light and native clientele; we were not disappointed.

can fulfill your needs. I knew it was a countdown to extinction when they cleaned up Charlie Flynns and stopped buying/selling/trading stolen merchandise and serving underage Emerson kids.
I feel like it's near impossible for a bar with any class to survive there.

This would be a huge loss for Boston and the theater community. The Intermission Tavern is a landmark place for cast, crew, IATSE union members, and theater patrons thanks to Mike Connors who made it all possible. Our only hope is that the new owners would keep it intact, as it should be.

Isn't that the former Charlie Flynn's? Cannot imagine it not being a bar.

... wasn't nearly always blocked by a crowd of cigarette smokers, I'd regret the closing of this venerable old watering hole.
But now I look forward to the day I can pass by it without having smoke blown in my face or seeing butts all over the sidewalk.

If a real bar with real personality bothers you so much.

PS- I also wish smokers would use an ash tray, but I am still bummed by the loss of places with character.
