Years ago the transit police had a substation on the concourse and later they had a substation on the red line platform did they close these substations do to budget concerns?

It was actually due to health concerns. The air on theT is horrible, full of rail/brake dust. Head over to Government Center and look at the inside base of that glass tower, it's a thick layer of that purplish dust and that's 1 floor up. I never understood how food sales were allowed.

Why didn't MP renovate the station as part of the Filene's tower community benefits package?
Even abating all the lead and asbestos alone in that station would be a massive community and public health benefit.
