Three men and a teen charged with Boston Common robbery, stomping

Boston Police report arresting two men from Boston, a guy from Weymouth and a 15-year-old from Mattapan around 9 p.m. yesterday after they allegedly forced a man walking across the Common to give up his cash, phone and his Red Sox snap-back cap.

Nebuchodonoz Salomon, 20, Jameslee Cayemite of Weymouth, 19, and Renaldo Joseph, 25, along with the Mattapan teen, not named because of his age, were all charged with unarmed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot).

Police say officers in a cruiser near the intersection of Tremont and Boylston had just taken note of the five young men because they began to "walk nervously in the opposite direction" up Tremont, when somebody else went up to them and told them he'd just been robbed on the Common by a group of four or five men.

Additional officers were able to stop the group of males, who fit the suspects’ descriptions, in the area of Washington Street and West Street.

Well, I walk through the Common every morning and early evening and have yet to smell "the stench of weed". It is a rather large piece of land, anon.

I agree - I walk through there in the morning on the way to work, in the afternoon for lunch and in the evening going home, and I can't really detect the 'stench of weed' everywhere. A few kids may spark up occasionally, but its not like every day has a Freedom Rally.

I'll take herb over that any day.

Lot of investment is being poured into the Common right now - with high-end condo developments like M Tower and 1 Winthrop Square, many rich people are going to start considering the Common to be their front yard, and insist on a more permanent police presence there.

Again, if you walk through the Common later a night, yes, you are taking a risk. But during the daylight hours with all the people mulling about, less so.

The Mayor and Police Commissioner have GOT to get a handle on this situation. My company's headquarters is on Tremont Street and right now I'm very grateful that I actually work from home because the idea of walking around down there after dark is turning into a truly terrifying prospect!

They caught these chumps and the area is swarming with cops lately. Not sure what more they can do. This random type of crime is not common in that area, no pun intended. Most issues are between dry addicts/homeless people.

I'll give an analogy you'd appreciate. Let's say there were three incidents of people getting hit by cars bad enough to need to go to hospital in the past month while crossing Tremont Street at the Common. What would you be saying then?

Yes, these violent acts of late haven't necessarily been random, but to someone reading these, it looks like the Common is a violent place.

Boston Common is so sketchy now. Weed everywhere, I won't even go near that Burger King because it's straight dangerous. There's been a real decline in safety over the last year in general. For the people denying it, honestly, open get your head out of the sand.
