Police: Drunk guy took out a loaded gun in the men's room of a crowded downtown bar

Boston Police report arresting a Dorchester man on gun charges early Saturday after he tried to fight his way out of being arrested at Coogan's Bar and Grill, 171 Milk St.
Officers arrived at the bar around 12:05 a.m. on a report from bar security about a guy showing a gun around in the men's room. Security staff pointed out the alleged restroom gun waver, Antonio DePina, 29, standing in the middle of the crowded dance floor holding two bottles of beer, police say:
Officers approached the suspect and asked him to step outside to speak with them. When the suspect refused to comply, the officers attempted to gain control of his hands, which he immediately resisted. The bottles of beer fell from the suspects hands as he attempted to pull away from the officers at which time he pushed one of the officers in an attempt to flee. A violent struggle then ensued as the crowd began to gather around the both officers and the suspect. The officers were eventually able to guide the suspect to the floor at which time a loaded 38 Special Smith & Wesson revolver fell out of the suspect’s pants. One officer immediately recovered the firearm as the other officers placed the suspect in custody. After the officers escorted the suspect outside, they noted that he appeared to be heavily intoxicated.
DePina was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Coogan's now faces a hearing before the Boston Licensing Board.

Crime in the city is down compared to say 5-10 years ago. Crime does seem more brazen but not more prevalent. Its the same demographic, maybe if Tito could only pay these young men they'd change their nefarious ways.

Menino brought crime down after decades of efforts, that seems to be atrophying under the new guy.

After all that has been happening in the world lately a man with a loaded gun in a crowded area needs to be taken very seriously. I hope the courts do something to ensure this man can’t do this again or worse given his uneasy behavior.

That's the best line in the cop's report, hilarious! I don't see a lot of real life resisting arrest situations. Yet I'm still curious how a screenwriter/director/actors would play that out in a movie or TV show.

It's routine, but ...
Establishments are supposed to take steps to keep their patrons safe, and police and the board want to know whether Coogan's could have done something to prevent this and what they'll be doing going forward.
Overserving patrons?
