Philip Greenspun goes to a packed Costco, grabs a hot dog and shares a table with a college student who's taken a job at a Dunkin' Donuts to try to make ends meet:

Too Much Pink and Orange
I always wondered why there are so many Dunkin Donuts outlets around, many in dense clusters that make very little sense.
I'm not surprised that some of them will need to be shut. As Dunkins is non-existant in other areas of the country, why didn't they expand into new markets rather than saturation dunking the New England landscape?
