The Bay State Banner reports the Dudley Square Tasty Burger looks to be shutting down, in addition to Dudley Dough, but adds plans are in the works for four new restaurants for the square.
People in Dudley grumble about the lack of businesses but then don't patronize the ones there. The bay state banner is a great paper for covering local issues, especially related to BPS as jimmy vaznis, who seeks to do every single BPS article in the BG just polishes the city's press release and sends it to the presses. However, on this particular issue they are pointing a finger in all the wrong places. It isn't the city's fault that TGI Friday's didn't open up there, something I recall them claiming a few years ago. It is the people of Roxbury who need to step up and patronize these businesses.
I've been in a few times, but f it comes down to stopping for a burger or catching my bus, I'm running for my bus. I also drive through regularly, but there's never anywhere to park so I keep going. It's just not worth driving around the block to the public lot and walking back over. They picked a bad spot, have sub-par service, and they're closed on Sundays. They didn't try very hard to succeed.
As a dudley sq resident that tasty burger was trash compared to the other ones and I think a more local ownership group like Dudley Cafe does better because they're entwined in the community. Don't blame the people for the lack of options ^^^
The problem is that the terminal is filthy, and unsafe. The Transit Police officer turns the lights out in the small police office and never ventures outside to address the druggies and the drunks who hang in the station.
I was excited when Tasty Burger first arrived, I went and supported more than a dozen times. Unfortunately I had a bad customer experience more than 10 times...... This is why it did not last, please take note future businesses.

Maybe it's only the newer
Maybe it's only the newer folks in the area that can afford $6 burgers with no fries or a drink.

Yeah!
Yeah!
... and give them their patronage, too!

Overpriced
TB is overpriced for many of the local residents around Dudley Sq and not special enough to draw in anybody from outside the area.
What about the office workers?
My guess is that the Bolling Building was thought of as the main customer source, at least at first.
The Mecanoo Sasaki bldg is Terrible
There I said it. It looks like a tower prison: and the spaces are non-functional. Sorry Boston, I love ya, but that project is a strikeout
