Boston used to have a lot of trolley barns

Old car barn in Boston

The folks at the Boston City Archives wonder if you can place this scene. See it larger.

I don't know why, but my gut says that. Before the elevated, of course.

Bigger picture says "Boston Elevated Railway". I'm guessing that this was where the MBTA is rebuilding the sea wall now, possibly before the massive station there.

Just a quick guess for Dudley.

Looks a lot like this view from the opposite angle. https://www.flickr.com/photos/cityofbostonarchives/16093397348/

My first thought was that you had nailed it, but then I considered that most BERY architecture was probably similar. Also, the configuration of the waiting room is different from shot to shot - two windows to left of door in one, one on either side in the other.

Better your guess than mine, though. Maybe the waiting room was rebuilt. I have nothing better for a guess.

Thanks for playing, folks! This is the Jamaica Plain Car Barn on South Street. We're dating it ca 1903-1906. The car barn was built in the 1890s, but this photo shows a later addition, built in the early 1900s.
