Picnic baskets of Newton Centre safe once more: Bear tranked and transported

State Environmental Police report that last night they found (based on the photo, near 128) and captured the black bear that had wandered into Newton Centre the other day:

Due to the populated location of the bear, MEP officers specially trained in the chemical immobilization of animals responded. With the assistance of the Newton Police Department, the bear was successfully immobilized. Due to its young age, the bear was then transported to Tufts Wildlife Clinic for further evaluation.

They did not specify where they found the bear, but based on one of the photos, it looks to be in the area of Rte. 128.
