Per Keep Roslindale Quirky, somebody was spotted leaving bread soaked in antifreeze in the area along South Walter Street.

And this description:

The report is the man who did this was middle-aged, shorter than 6 ft, and ran away up So Walter toward the corner at South St where his blue Camry or Corolla was parked.

How the observer knew the bread was soaked in antifreeze?

If, as anon of 9:33 says, the place is full of yuppies, maybe it was soaked in artisanal vinegar.

As in, picked up a piece and smelled it.

Ditto for those of us who are on FB but not members of that closed group?

However the entitled yuppies down Fallon are annoying. Some days in the morning you can see 10+ unleashed mutts running around on the lower field. Both lower enterances have clear signage regarding leashes. But hey who gives a shit it’s not like young kids play baseball there.

Hopefully the city’s respond is as swift and bold as their leash law enforcerment.

However the entitled yuppies ...

This leads me to believe you are seeing this through the lens of tribal affiliation rather than as a matter of misbehavior.

Indicates though you may not agree with my sentiment you know i right.

My word choice is in regards to when this issue started and the people who tend to the be the primary culprits.

.I'm impressed at your public commitment to your bigotry.

No-one should be trying to poison these dogs. However the vile nature of that action doesn't give the dog owners carte blanche to use the field as their dog park.

Here you're focusing on behavior (both the dog owners' and the poisoner's) and not on tribal identity.

any race, creed or color are annoying. Has nothing to do with "tribal identity" although one may argue that tribes of entitled yuppies are particularly annoying.

People who use words ending in "tard" are annoying, too.

As are people who love to talk about how being groped didn't bother them and those "other" women are just whiners. As are people who can't get over the idea that driving a car doesn't make them special.

in a public park actually do give a shit. In fact, they give others a LOT of shit.

To follow clearly posted leash signs!

Whoosh!

Stuff will kill any animal. Shot glass will kill a person.
I'm under the impression that they added a bittering element to it to reduce poisonings (sometimes involving an aggrieved spouse, but I digress...) but I'm not sure.

Help us out here, Brian?

However, dogs and cats are particularly attracted to it. That's the specific concern here.

I don't understand how you get caught doing this. Dropping a soggy piece of bread on the ground in a park should attract zero attention.

Where so many people are dropping slices of soggy bread that nobody pays any mind?

up

People drop bread all over the place for the birds , so whats the difference? Its like background noise, much ado about nothing!

up

Because, no, people don't feed birds, especially not in that particular part of the park.

Entitled yuppies and almost anyone else with similar entitlement are annoying. Seriously.
Being labeled as annoying is a bias not to be tolerated?

I just added another class of people to the list.
Although truth be told, all human beings are annoying.

"entitled" describes attitude and behavior and is fair game. "yuppies" is merely a socio-economic group. Misbehavior by the entitled is equally annoying irrespective of whether or not you would characterize the perp as a yuppie. Consider someone complaining about how annoyed he is by "black street crime." Is he not annoyed by white street crime too? Is he giving white street criminals a pass because they are of his tribe?

Yuppie?

WTF is a Yuppie anymore? Huh?

That's like 1980s babyboomers shit.

for the "other" who has moved into a formerly monolithic neighborhood, when the "other" is white-collar professional, non-immigrant, and white.

Is where you just blew your case.

Serious penalties for this kind of behavior.

MGL covering malicious killing of animals

Are rats protected under Section 112? Should I consider getting rid of my snap traps?

We are overrun with rats in the NEnd and I am just trying to prevent them from combining in our building.

up

Unless you are specifically targeting a caged rat in your neighbor's apartment, you're fine. A rat in your neighborhood is not an "animal of another person."

This city dog thing is out of control.
Too many dogs, virtually no oversight, and super entitled owners who think the rules don't apply to them.
So many city parks has been ruined by these dog people.

Then encourage the City to open more dog parks.

How do you follow up a story about someone literally trying to POISON DOGS with a comment saying in essence that they deserve it?

For one thing—I grew up here. No one used to clean up after their dogs—we spent half our childhood scraping dog shit off our shoes and when the Pooper Scooper came along we thought it was hilarious (we didn’t have a dog but the notion that someone would clean up after them was a novelty.) Now at least MOST people clean up after them and yet still all this wailing and now a poisoner? My dog is small, fast, and greedy and even a leash won’t keep him from lunging after a piece of bread or a chicken bone (there are plenty of those too but I don’t see you getting upset about litterers). I just hope they catch this guy and punish him before he kills any dogs.
