After the fervor over killing Iraqis, why am I surprised that people will still turn out to cheer on the Israeli murder of civilians and children(over 1000 so far). Bravo Boston, still the champion of decency and rationality.

Er, they're not actually supporting the murder of civilians. Rather, they're supporting Israel finally taking action to prevent its civilians from being killed.

Seems to me like both things are happening. A cease-fire is needed.
an eye for an eye
The conflict usually goes along "an eye for an eye" but every once in a while one side likes to exact massive injury, death and destruction to teach the other side a lesson.
Both sides have valid grievances. Both sides rely on weapons to make the other bleed and die.
There are no white hats and no black hats in this conflict. Both sides know their attacks terrorize, injure and kill civilians. It's not even a close question.
The Israelis are trying to kill off Hamas for the rocket attacks and other strategic purposes (maybe even including an election in Israel.) Oddly, Hamas was a democratically elected government.
Does anyone know if Sderot is an Israeli settlement in occupied land (based on '67 boarders)? If so, Hamas has been lobbing rockets at an Israeli settlements built on Palestinian land.
The US gives more military aid to Israel than any other country in the world. You'd think Americans would be more concerned about how Israel uses it. (The rest of the world is.) Which means we really do enable Israeli's war making capacity.
Israel is not the 51st state of the union. It is a foreign country, an ally not a state. It is not true that the US and Israel have the same interests, always.
The USA vetoed a unanimous vote in the UN security council that called for an immediate ceasefire. We did the same when Israel was in Lebanon teaching Hezbollah a lesson. If Tom Friedman is to be believed, Israel's goal in Lebanon was to destroy everything and make civilians question whether having Hezbollah was worth it. It backfired. There are more Hezbollah party members in Lebanese government than before. The threat of military violence raises the profile and the popularity of hard liners in Israel and in Gaza. You think Gaza Palestinians are not convinced they must be able to defend themselves, and so need Hamas now more than ever?
