State Police report arresting three Californians they say each arrived at Logan Airport with 50 pounds of pot in their luggage on Saturday.

The three are scheduled for arraignment in East Boston Municipal Court on marijuana-trafficking charges, State Police say.

State Police say they were tipped off about the arrival of two of the alleged pot haulers on an American Airlines flight out of Sacramento, then decided to have a chat with a third person whose luggage appeared pretty much identical to the luggage used by the people they were expecting.

All three had luggage containing 51 plastic bags with a bit less than a pound of marijuana in each bag, State Police say.

Throw the book at them, I hate it when my dealers short the weight. ;-)

Reason #1 to buy legally.

Even if you get shorted it's still cheaper than buying legally.

this is a tired argument. yeah I'm Ok with $ not supporting gangs and drug cartels. I'm also OK with paying a bit more for a retail experience. I save TIME which to me means a lot more than the money I would save. And once I factor in my bill rate, it's far cheaper to go to a store.

I'm all set with NOT ever playing the 'waiting game' ever again. For me, that has a value in itself.

Gangs and cartels ?! You don’t know anyone who grows weed? You got to get out more

I do actually.. still time.

#1. But if you don't drive it's a moot point because you can't actually get to a store besides taking the commuter rail to Salem, but whoops they're appointment only, and they don't have any more appointments available so looks like you can't go there either.

#2. I save TIME by sitting at my apt and having it delivered. No waiting game.

Let's play a quick game:

1/2 oz from a guy I may or may not know: $170
Total = $170

1/2 from Alt. Therapies = $188 (if you could get an apt, which you can't because they are too busy)
Commuter Rail to Salem + back = $15
Time for commute= At least 2.5 hrs @ $35/hr = $87
Total(for me) = $290

you should just save your money all together. there is no reason to pay more than $200 for an ounce in mass

Lmao those weed prices are too damn high!

who was your dealer before you got your med card? Sounds like they sucked. I can get my "meds" delivered usually within the hour most days.
I am PRO pot shops for the record, just sayin'....until 2030 when Boston lets a shop open I will still be using "my man" as Lou Reed put it.

I buy locally grown weed from people I know who grew it, much faster to get in Boston and literally half the price of rec weed.

A number of years ago I knew a guy that had a pretty good sized hydroponic grow setup that was a significant part of that region's supply chain. That whole thing could get wiped out in a couple of days if there was an infestation so they used a heavy hand with pesticides and anti-fungal sprays.

50 pounds is the exact number for making it a trafficking offense compared to intent to distribute.

(2 years max for intent to distribute compared to 2.5 years min with a 15 year max for trafficking offense)

It's also the maximum weight that most airlines will check without charging an overweight bag fee...and an overweight bag just attracts MORE attention.

Kudos for the new levels of stupidity, Breaking federal drug laws to import weed into a state where it’s legal. Wowza!

I don’t get this? You can get pounds of Cali grade weed here no problem but they decide to traffic it in? We’ve had the best weed in the country in Boston for 30 years now they really thought this was a legit idea? Even the cocaine runners here stay away from Logan everything is drivin here

Go ahead a try to bring a quarter keg as your carry on.

"You can get pounds of Cali grade weed here no problem"
Yeah it comes from.....CA! How do you think it gets here?
"but they decide to traffic it in? "
It's always been trafficked in. Usually FedEx /UPS Ground if you're smart.

"We’ve had the best weed in the country in Boston for 30 years now"
Where do you think it was coming from? You think Tawmee in Quinzee was growin it in his mom's basement? Jesus.

"Even the cocaine runners here stay away from Logan everything is drivin here"
Untrue. The large amount and someone "tipping the State Police" off was what did them in. I know people who have taken over a pound in carry on baggage from CA through Logan. Places like CA and CO where it is legal leave it up to the receiving municipality to enforce their own laws. In those states, depending on their laws and the person's status (Medical patient or caregiver, etc) it may be perfectly legal for them to walk around with a pound or fifty on them. Once you are in the air its a federal problem, once you're on the ground again its a wherever-you-landed's problem. If no one had tipped off the staties they would have been fine, TSA and airport security is a joke, especially regarding drugs.

The good shit is mostly hydroponic grown indoors and there is no reason to import from California when there is really good stuff grown all over New England.

Pros use USPS to ship. FedEx and UPS can open any package in there possession, USPS needs a warrant to search a package.

up

and they have real tracking, and if you get an expected ship date of tomorrow, it'll be there tomorrow. Shipping something like drugs USPS is like asking for gut wrenching anxiety for what could be weeks. Spend the extra couple of dollars on a parcel shipping company.

Isnt it a criminal crime if someone does it thru USPS, but a civil one if done via the others?

Cannabis has a market value if $15 a ton in the Philippines. Aside from government regulation they had $2. of product. Was an arrest warrant issued for "god" for creating his mistake ?

Weed can cost your life if the thug cops decide to kill you.

Please - get your facts straight.

In MA you get well tested, organically grown SAFE product for your money.

It was fake last week and it's still fake today. Cannabis DOES NOT have a market value of $15 a ton anywhere!

If you let people get away with bringing weed from California, where it's legal, to Massachusetts, where it's also legal, word will get out that you're weak on enforcement, and next thing you know, you might have people, I dunno, driving to New Hampshire to buy booze at the state liquor store and returning to Massachusetts with it. I've even personally witnessed people stocking up in NH with what appears to be their families in their cars. Law enforcement ought to get out of the airport and start dealing with the kind of depraved individual who puts his own kids into a smuggling vehicle, placing them on the front lines of criminal interstate booze smuggling operations.

up

CA weed isn't tested like MA weed is.

Difference between bringing home a small amount for personal consumption and retail quantities. People do get busted for buying booze in NH and selling it in their store/restaurant.

People do get busted for buying booze in NH and selling it in their store/restaurant.

It's a mixed-up, muddled-up, shook-up world when a cartel has enough control over a state government, that the state government uses the force of law to punish anyone who dares to buy from the cartel's competitors.

First thought, it's sad that it apparently takes a tip to bust someone carrying suitcases of weed through an airport.

But on second thought, they don't say anything about where the tip came from, other than Sacramento law enforcement. CA TSA may say they're not bothering with weed, but I bet they're happy to call in an anonymous, detailed tip when someone goes through security with a handful of heavy bags that are emitting a green haze.
