The City that Always Sleeps could get 24-hour empanadas and pasteles

La Chiva, a Colombian take-out place at 259 Bennington St. in East Boston that is already open until 3 a.m., is seeking permission to stay open 24 hours a day.

The Boston Licensing Board could consider owner Danilo Restrepo's request at a meeting tomorrow. At a hearing this morning, a representative of the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services backed the proposal, which he said got "total support" at an earlier neighborhood meeting.

Boston currently has almost no restaurants that are open all the time.

if you're already open until 3am, what difference does it even make?

Boston could use more than Victoria and South Street, both diners. Are there any others in Boston Proper? At least some of the 'burbs have 24-hour drive-thrus at fast-food establishments.

But Bova's is open 24 hours

Is the best late night drunk food you can find in this city. It's a shame we're the city that always sleeps, STILL! I hope we get more late night options for people who aren't puritanical by nature.

...is that it attracts late night drunks. In a very densely populated residential area of Bennington Street.

Love this place!!!

If it becomes a huge source of trouble, then re-visit. But in the mean-time, we need a few 24 hr places.

But Restrepo said he's not planning anything different, because the place is just takeout, and he hasn't had any problems with his 3 a.m. closing time.

They are bomb.

This is the location that was once the famous Riley's Roast Beef, remembered fondly by those of us of a certain age. Their billboard/sign featuring cows was a minor local landmark.

Really greasy and unhealthy food. What eastie needs is healthier food and 24 hour grocery

Real punks don't eat healthy food
