Two acquitted of charges they shot a man at the height of a brawl at now closed Allston bar

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today acquitted men from Dedham and Norwood on charges they shot a man in the thigh during a large closing-time brawl that started inside Patron's, at the corner of Brighton and Harvard avenues on Nov. 26, 2015. However, the jury did convict them for illegal possession of a firearm, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Roshawn Drane, 33, of Dedham, and Denzel Rowell, 28, of Norwood, will be sentenced tomorrow, the DA's office reports.

According to testimony before the Boston Licensing Board, a confrontation over a man who made the mistake of trying to chat up another man's woman spiraled out of control into a large fight that spilled into the street and left one man shot, another man stabbed and a third smashed in the head with a champagne bottle. A bouncer was also gashed in the face.

Boston cops flooded the area and quickly stopped Drane and Rowell, driving from the scene. They did not, however, initially find a gun because, police said, one of the two had first thrown it on the roof of the Blanchards liquor store across the street.
