Somebody keeps vandalizing statues outside three Catholic churches in Dorchester and Hyde Park
By adamg on Thu, 04/11/2019 - 6:07pm
The Dorchester Reporter reports police are trying to find who keeps pouring a red substance on statues outside Saint Gregory’s Church in Lower Mills and Most Precious Blood Church and Saint Anne’s Church in Hyde Park.
A witness told police they had observed an unknown black female enter Most Precious Blood Church on a separate occasion and attempt to deface statues inside the church before fleeing the scene in a white sedan.

Red substance, Most Precious Blood
These two things go together, no?
Dare I suggest
Hate crime?
Ya Think?
If the house of worship that was vandalized was a mosque or a synagogue would the outrage be more vocal? Just wondering.....
Besides, Mayah Mahty lives right down the street from St. Greg's. Has he come out with a statement as yet?
It was all over the news last
It was all over the news last night and reported here at 6:07pm- how immediate do you need the responses to be before you start "just wondering?"
"Just wondering" if you're an
"Just wondering" if you're an "all lives matter" type of person.
Sure
Why else would someone do this ... unless it is some strange form of reverence.
She tried to turn water into wine
But failed also...
St Gregory is my parish.
St Gregory is my parish. You don't need to like the Catholic Church but tossing out comments trying to be funny isn't always the answer.
St. Gregory's is where my
St. Gregory's is where my parents made their First Holy Communion, Confirmation and marriage. That parish is very close to us.
"acceptable" bigotry
Echoing a previous comment here - if someone was mocking Jews or Muslims on this website, everyone from the webmaster on down would be screaming in protest. But Catholics appear to be fair game.
Just because everyone's not screaming to your timetable...
...doesn't mean people don't recognize this for what it (probably) is. Although I'm not sure if it meets the definition of a "hate crime" (I don't think you really grasp what that is), it's clearly someone with an ax to grind.
'Hate' crime?
If someone or group jumps you in the street coming home from school or work, punches you in the face to frighten you, calls you b*tch, f*ggot, robs you, and they are not the same so-called race or skin tone as you, is that a hate crime? What I just described is a very common occurrance in certain neighborhoods and areas. If they get reported or publicized at all, which is rare the vast majority of time, they're never reported as a 'hate' crime.
I'm Agnostic and have been since before I reached puberty. When I was in middle school I knew what I believed now. This was while I attended Catholic schools. But I don't think Catholics are any worse than any other organized religion, just a much bigger target. Of course this is a 'hate' crime. And it happens a lot more than most people realize. INSTALL security cams in all churches and houses of worship. This is 2019.
Someone with an ax to grind?
You’ve described most hate crimes there, being that someone has an ax to grind about a race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, and so on commits an act.
I blame the hippies
They made us think it was ok to post these snarky comments. It wasn't our fault.
