Guy helping would-be city-council candidate decides to sort of run against him
By adamg on Thu, 02/19/2009 - 2:37pm
The Dorchester Reporter informs us that Tomas Gonzalez, who'd been helping Andrew Kenneally build a campaign for an at-large seat on the city council, has now decided he wants one of those seats himself.
There are four at-large seats. Two of the current councilors, Michael Flaherty and Sam Yoon, are running for mayor this year. Gonzalez is a former former chief of staff of Boston’s Commission on the Affairs of the Elderly and the former Latino liaison to the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services.

Its always iffy when
Its always iffy when "friends" run for at large seats at the same time. Yeah sure their are two open seats, and the assumption is they can both win, but it gets complicated very fast especially if one beats the other by a small margin for the last seat.
not chief of staff
Tomas is a very good guy, but he was never the Mayor's Chief of Staff.
Fixed
Looks like part of the sentence from the Dorchester Reporter story was dropped - he was a chief of staff, but for a commission, not that mayor himself.
