I don't consider weather, especially snowy weather, to be a detraction reason for this.
Again I ride routes that have headways of less than 10 minutes or less during rush. Worst that winter was maybe 15 mins, or the day I ended up just walking because the traffic was so bad on Meridian street.
So that green line train that derailed at riverside? I was the only passenger on it. I’m fine, unless you count annoyance. “Shuttle buses in an hour or so.” Thanks for another amazing commute @MBTA
I am lucky to be on vacation this week so I am missing this problem. The shuttle buses will stop at every stop between Riverside and Newton Highlands, which of course takes longer than the straight rail with the stops. The MBTA used to have the 30-minute express bus from Riverside to Franklin Street, but it was discontinued because the Needham Rail Line took most of those customers.

I'm a big vocal supporter of the T but sheeeeesh... get it together, MBTA.
And people wonder why I'm so bus centric, I've never been wronged by a bus (at least when it shows up).

Weren't there a large number of instances a few winters back when people where are at bus stops for an hour in really lousy conditions?

Apparently you've forgotten about this gem.
Buses would be great if greater Boston was willing to make more dedicated lanes for them and actually enforce the restrictions.

It's at the point with the T where a derailment is just another ho-hum headline.
