The Globe reports that the investigation into the overtime scandal began when a Harvard-trained Asian-American doctor fluent in four languages was stopped in the tunnel by a trooper she says kept screaming at her, demanding to know if she spoke English and that bothered her enough to file a complaint.

This story has it all. Racism. Theft. Laziness. Corruption. Implying someone is uneducated when they are way more educated than you. If you've ever wondered why people call cops pigs, here is a great example.

He quit. Fine by me. We need more good cops like the investigator that picked up on Chin's post-dating of the ticket and pursued it, probably knowing just where the hell it was going.

This certainly was a sad article.
I was sad hurt disgusted angry and relieved.
I was truly sadden how Mrs. Debbie was treated. The behavior of those Trooper especially the initial Trooper hurt my heart and disgust me. And it still appears to this day the racial threatening discriminatory Behavior was never addressed.
I am so happy and relieved that Miss Debbie and mind you the error in time in which she showed such tremendous courage ended up exposing these criminals.
I'm looking forward to hearing about more arrests more charges and more guilty pleas by the future Troopers that are currently embroiled in this Criminal conspiring gang of Troopers.
That’s Dr. Debbie

Michael Casamassima, the officer that started the whole thing by yelling at her, was never involved in the OT scandal. FTA, "Casamassima has not been charged or otherwise linked to the overtime fraud scandal. Procopio, the State Police spokesman, said Casamassima had not worked any of the overtime shifts that came under scrutiny by the agency."
Hey kinopio, you hate cops, I get it, but if, "In one of her phone calls with the State Police, the investigator zeroed in on the time and date recorded on her ticket.", don't the investigators get any credit for catching the post-dating of the ticket (bad move, Chin) and realizing the significance of it?
It's a good catch by an honest cop.
Please, tell me about the vaunted 'thin blue line' and how it was demolished by this investigation, that in the Globe's words, "...ensnaring about one-third of the unit. Troop E, which primarily patrolled the turnpike, was disbanded in spring 2018, with several troopers eventually brought up on charges."
Meanwhile, Chin filed a complaint for discrimination, then dropped the suit. I thought this might have been Casamassina, but no. It's Eric Chin, noted Asian victim and convicted felon.

Chin got caught not because he's Asian-American but because the investigators started looking into the woman's complaint and noticed that he was the one who'd issued her ticket and that he'd post-dated it, to make it look like he was working the next day, only he wasn't.
As for Harvard, for somebody whose read so much on the case, it's interesting you managed to miss the background and motivation of the guy who brought it (hint: He's not Asian-American and his motivation is to go after affirmative action and Harvard).
I read it just fine...

As I stated in the second paragraph of my post, '...if, "In one of her phone calls with the State Police, the investigator zeroed in on the time and date recorded on her ticket.", don't the investigators get any credit for catching the post-dating of the ticket (bad move, Chin) and realizing the significance of it? So, I guess he got caught because the investigator picked up on his post-dating shenanigans, as I clearly stated.

True, Edward Blum is probably not Asian and he might have a standing problem, but Harvard also has a problem " 'They have a no-victim problem,' Burroughs said, referring to Students for Fair Admissions, 'but you have a personal rating problem.' "
Colleges have been doing a lot of losing lately, here's looking at you, Oberlin. U.S. District Judge Allison D. Burroughs didn't dismiss the case, so it's popcorn time.

I don't care about the level of diversity at Harvard. That's their problem. I'm happy about the crooked cops getting caught stealing overtime money. I doubt that you realize this, but if you get caught stealing government money, that nice fat pension goes out the window. They're literally broke. They have no income. That $120K pension they were looking forward to?

If you get caught stealing and you're *not* a cop, you go to jail. But theses poor, downtrodden cops will have to get a real job instead of pulling down six figures standing around a construction site drinking coffee.

I don't like people calling me a racist because I am not one. Anything coming from you is just progressive bombast and should require a citation, because you're long on invective but short on facts.
If it's too 'long-winded' for you then read small parts of it, go have a cookie, then come back and read the rest of it. Or have someone read it to you.

your game is to write 1000 words that vaguely relate to the subject at hand so that when others try to engage you on substance, you can pretend like you didn’t write what you wrote!

I always think of how stupid the drug dealers are who get busted because they run a red light or some other minor thing. Then the cops sees the bales of drugs in the car.
If these staties* were polite and just issued the tickets with a "sorry, ma'am, just doing our jobs', they might have got away with it.
*I know it sounds like one cop was rude and a different one cheated, but still.

Time to completely reorganize the MSP, retrain everyone, get rid of the paramilitary foundations and structure, and rehire only those who don't have racist bullshit dripping from their jodhpurs.

Who would be left? I picture MSP headquarters with tumbleweeds blowing through it.
And then what? Without a robust State Police force, Massachusetts drivers would become completely oblivious to the concept of traffic laws. They would speed on every road, ignore traffic signals and road signs, and, um, er... I guess that wouldn't actually be any different.
Never mind.
Two separate issues dramatized by a speculating Globe
By O-FISH-L
Sun, 08/18/2019 - 3:34pm
I'm glad that Debbie came forward and "see something, say something" is working. Don't forget, the "Son of Sam" case was solved by a parking ticket. The perceived rudeness by the first trooper was unfortunate but understandable. At a time when several of the leading Democrat presidential candidates open the debates in a foreign tongue, clearly there's consensus that many people here don't understand English. The trooper shouldn't have jumped to that conclusion with Debbie, even if he felt she wasn't following directions. He couldn't have known that Debbie "dislikes" driving in tunnels.
Like some of the disputed marathon coverage, The Globe again veers into dramatization and conjecture when no additive is necessary. Since there are no trees, poles or parked cars to hide behind in the tunnel, did the trooper really "pop out of nowhere" or had Debbie's admitted fear of tunnels resulted in a loss of situational awareness? As for his hand position, for obvious reasons the duty holster is designed to be worn on the hip in the area where the hands naturally fall. If the trooper had kept his hands up, it might be perceived as a "fighting stance" and more trouble. Another obvious but unasked question in a story where racism is alleged, why didn't Debbie ask her fellow Asian-American, Trooper Chin, for help? The Globe has often said that the police should look like the community they serve. After years of police recruitment and outreach in the Asian community, why did the Globe's plan fail here?
As for Chin's stealing, his astronomical overtime had already attracted plenty of attention prior to this. We may never know if Debbie's complaint triggered the investigation or if her info was the last element needed for the IAD case. Regardless, the State Police brass should have done much better handling her complaint, keeping her updated and thanking her for her diligence.
Understandable?

Baker is doing nothing about this scandal. They dispersed the crooked Troop to other troops like the catholic church did with pedophile priests. And what has happened to the very few of the troopers actually charged? One got 1 day in jail...for stealing thousands of dollars and falsifying records. Then the police destroyed the old records. And magically, Baker's son has never been prosecuted for his sexual assault! Maybe the police will even back Baker when he tries for a third term.
