Jamaica Plain to lose its comic-book store and Magic the Gathering gathering spot
By adamg on Sat, 09/14/2019 - 8:58pm
JP Comics & Games, 603 Centre St., announced tonight it's closing at the end of the month.
The store, which in addition to selling comics hosts a Friday-night Magic the Gathering game, said "this came up pretty quickly on us," but did not go into more details.

Paul is one of the nicest guys in JP. I am so sorry to hear this. Will miss stopping in to pet the dogs and chat.

Talked with them a bit. They
Talked with them a bit. They were supposed to move to a new location and new building in JP (maybe that 3 story on Bourroghs st) but they were unable to secure retail insurance for the place because of the lead levels in the soil. Lame :\

I heard there was
Cock magic. People still aren’t ready for it.
Ha!
Was thinking about that the other day. Randy Marsh's magnum opus.
No problem, they can gather
No problem, they can gather at Doyle’s!
The Joint
The Joint is expanding into their space. Oh boy am I excited.
bathroom
So there's gonna be a bathroom now? I'm still a bit astounded that they (and grassfed) were allowed to operate without one.
Hopefully not to be replaced
Hopefully not to be replaced by another financial institution!!
Ugh!
I have never gone in but I have always been glad that this store existed for those who wanted to go in. For years, I have witnessed groups of young folk sitting around a table on Friday evenings playing some kind of game.
With this storefront's closing and, of course, the loss of Doyle's, JP is losing its funkiness and character.
