Not surprised

I would walk past it several times a week and it never seemed remotely full. To be fair, I generally only walked by during the day.
Also seems like some of the super generic sports bars are struggling and Tony C's didn't capture as much foot traffic as Cask and Flagon or Game On during Sox games.

This place never seems to make it through the slow winter months, but it's packed during Sox games. Maybe they should put a good rock radio station there instead.

Bob Kraft should buy it and name it for himself

Given the rumored tension between billionaires John Henry and Bob Kraft, it would be funny to see Kraft buy this place on the Red Sox doorstep, then name it for himself. It might be a better concept than they've been using there. Bob Kraft's would be still packed on Red Sox days but now add in a full house on NFL days and it might carry the bar through the Red Sox off season. College kids might be more inclined to make it a destination if it were linked to the highly successful but mischievous Kraft. Sports Depot was always jammed with a 365 day schedule. This site will remain a challenge if stays Red Sox dependent.

Myra's will be a small classy wine bar attached to Bobby K's strip club, to be used as evidence of how kind and good of a person Bobby is at heart.
Sox own this

Funny idea and all, but I'm surprised nobody mentioned that John Henry (through NESV) already owns this parcel. Look: http://app01.cityofboston.gov/ParcelViewer/?pid=05...
So not only will this site stay perpetually Sox-dependent, but it will be interesting to see whether they have larger plans for it than yet another 100-night sports bar.

Thanks to St. Tom Menino and Peter Meade, they also pretty much own Lansdowne and Yawkey Way.

When fenway has concerts going on you can go grab a seat in the back of the restaurant at the window looking out to fenway and hear all the music but avoid the crowds.

I’m not at all surprised as the food was always terrible— awful, both when it was Jerry Remy’s abd Tony C’s.

Owner is quoted in the Glob as saying the lease was up and they were refused a new one, didn't want to deal with short-term extensions.
