One of our food robot overlords on the move
By adamg on Fri, 12/13/2019 - 7:05pm
Roving UHub photographer Ted S. spotted one of the meal-making robots outside Spyce, the robo-take-out place on Washington Street in Downtown Crossing, which is undergoing renovations. Tough to tell whether it's coming or going or has gone on strike for more oil or something.

I couldn’t tell either they
I couldn’t tell either they had to remove the whole store front for whatever they were doing.
Magoo sez.
Flippy sez “would you like fries with that”. Canary cry radio. Magoo
A day's worth of entertainment
The gigantic truck that brought it was doing a very nice job of traffic calming on Washington Street. Shoppers and tourists and office workers alike were schooling around it and gawking. They had to rip the entire front off the shop to get these in and out of there.
it definitely fucked up
it definitely fucked up traffic in the area—couldn't get my car out of the garage there on washington st and had to walk to make a dr appointment, ended up paying $42 in parking fees
Its all well and good , these
Its all well and good , these robots , until the lament of no customers , because they have been replaced by robots , and robots dont eat or buy stuff. Brave new world without sweat !
No Robots
I have so many issues with Spyce:
1) There is nothing sexy about robots making your food
2) The employees literally are slaves to the robots
3) The food is mediocre
4) There is STILL nothing sexy about robots making your food
I hope the robot breaks in transit and they just go out of business and maybe we can get a chill family-owned, human-operated restaurant or something... crazy idea, but we can dream
robots making food
You're too young to remember "My Living Doll" a sitcom about a female robot played by Julie Newmar, who also played the Catwoman on the Batman series.
