Lm3r reported from Central Square around 9:20 a.m. that several MBTA workers were down on the tracks, apparently installing a new metal thingee that connects one of the rails to the ties - about the same time the T was reporting Red Line delays of up to ten minutes due to track work at Central.
The work meant trains pulled into other stations and just stayed there:
#mbta when your train is "standing by" with doors open at Charles/MGH and it's 2 degrees outside... must be Friday #mbtafail

How many T employees does it take to install a new metal thingee? Enquring minds want to know.

"Begging the question" as it doesn't mean what you think it does.
To answer your question, it apparently takes a LOT.

Wow. Usually you can't find any MBTA employees at station kiosks. Count how many are in this photo.
