Dorchester man charged as drug dealer outside Methadone Mile drug-treatment program

Boston Police report arresting a Dorchester man they say was standing outside Boston Health Care for the Homeless, 780 Albany St., Friday morning, with salable amounts of fentanyl, crack and marijuana.

In a separate search, police say, members of the BPD citywide drug unit found a loaded gun and "drug packaging materials" in his Norton Street apartment.

Police say the drug unit had had Robert White, 40, under investigation for awhile and had two search warrants - one for his person and one for his apartment, when they moved in on him on Albany Street around 8:30 a.m. on Friday.

Police say his personal inventory that morning consisted of 19 plastic bags of fentanyl, five "large" plastic bags of crack, nine "small" plastic bags of crack and one" medium" plastic bag of marijuana.

White was charged with trafficking more than 18 grams of crack, possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. After the raid on his apartment, police added charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and receiving stolen property. He was also charged with being a Level 3 armed career criminal, which could mean a longer sentence if convicted of the other crimes.

Police say the gun had been reported stolen in Miami, FL this past September.

Innocent, etc.

Sad to say, this has been ongoing for years. When the addicts were going to the Methadone clinic down by the prison, the dealers were just a block or so up the street. You had to walk passed them to get to the clinic so the sale was already made on the way to get your drink. For a period of time I was driving someone there to get straightened out, and that was a decent 20 years ago and it was going on then. Nothing has changed.

The problem is the probable cause laws that prevent the police from just checking people out randomly. So a dealer right on Albany Street? No surprise here. It's good to get this dealer off the street but that likely did not put a dent in availability to people most needing to get clean.

This guy In The Know said he used to take a friend down there to get “straightened out” lol... Then in the same soliloquy he says it’s good to get this dealer off the street. Taking your friend there was equivalent to selling him the dope yourself sir... But anyway

Nobody is standing around sick, stinking, begging, homeless drug addicts, hopping over used needles and human feces, all while dodging police cuz it’s easier than a 9 to 5. And nobody in that position has the power, money, or influence to get the drugs they sold from wherever they originated to the methadone mile. NOBODY.

Economics 101. When there's a demand, there will always be a supply. We have an insatiable appetite for drugs other than marijuana. We must have dealers who can give us the product.

and other facilities where homeless congregate, and harass the homeless, mentally ill and druggies. Most people may not be aware of this situation.

Lots of people take methadone and heroin. Not supposed to work that way, but tell it to the junkies. The clinic is the best place to sell, everyone there is a customer.

To law enforcement,

Based on testimonies here on this blog alone it should Law Enforcement to focus on ya interdictions around these social service facilities and programs.

To be honest, if the City really want to effect substance abuse use and other criminal activities and increase recovery chance; also better the chances for addicts and recovery community; there should assertive legally aggressive interdictions zones around these programs.

To honest its really no secret dealers are there.

The citizens of Boston are asking of this from enforcement. (All Law Enforcement). See Somethings Do Something.

Is an amazing collection of Healthcare workers who are heroes on the front line of mental illness and addiction.

Will the city ever make a plan to fix this mess of an intersection? Getting tired of watching addicts shoot up along the highway. This area is gross.
