The theater frowns on people throwing kitty litter at the screen

Cats lady

The movie adaptation of "Cats" was pretty widely panned as an awful waste of time and money. But so awful you want to see it? The Somerville Theatre has started showing the movie late on Friday and Saturday nights, which is the sort of thing that turned "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" from a low-budget film hardly anybody saw on its first release into a cult phenomenon.

But the theater cautions:

Please note that the *late shows* on Fri and Sat evenings are open to audience participation, as CATS seems to have entered the status of a cult movie. Please enjoy yourselves and feel free to 'cat call' the film but be sure to be respectful of other audience members and the theater itself, and keep it PG!

Picture Show

I was so fixated on the word "movie" that I screwed that up. Fixed!

During he original "Rocky Horror" midnight movie era people were encouraged to NOT be PG and NOT be respectful of the audience ("we're gonna pop some cherries tonight" anyone?). Times change.

The millennials...

Always deciding what movies weren't appropriate for small children, even back in 1975 before they were born.

Rocky Horror was rated R, no reason to be PG when the movie wasn't.

I also seem to recall being given a bag with rice in it to throw at the screen. What gives, Somerville???

sounds like they don't want to sweet up a bunch of shit that's thrown all over their floor ? seems reasonable

Yeah, good luck with that!!!!!

Given that another word for "cat" is "pussy", I just don't see this happening.

I went to the show on Friday. Folks were a bit more clever than this.

stupid and clever.

And pure clever without a little touch of stupid is just depressing.

this is the same theatre that used to show the slutcrucker every year during christmas ?

that's an 18+ show. "Cats" is rated PG.

They still do show The Slutcracker every December. 12 seasons and almost all shows sell out that over 800 seat theatre.

saw the premier of azumi there in 2005. was a dope experience.
